fixed commuter. Noice. As for the bars. Talked to one of the CBD couriers who rides fixed (and has 4 more at home!)
He pointed me towards SHM (Bourke St store, not sure re the Lonsdale one) or Pushi who both have em
(probably about 20% of the couriers are on em now...).
They have both a pricey one and a few cheaper Profile ones

And that Orbea is quite exquisite, aint it

Just installed a set of the cheaper Profile ones (scored second hand from Bicycle Recycle) on my about-to-be-reborn hardtail commuter... Looking forward to this!

BTW - Was in SHM in Bourke St yesterday and they're closing down - so stuff is going cheap, although that's not being publicised much yet it seems... Picked up a full XTR cable set (shifters and brakes) for only $50...

For the trainer, I'd wonder if the fan speed is modulated to simulate real weather conditions (how about tail wind??)

As for the handle bar, looks like time trial handle bars to me. Am I wrong?

As for the Orbea, a "hippy" should encourage peace (of mind), not harbouring subjects of temptation. My heart throbs for that beaut. 🙁

Nice kit. I bought a pair of Profile bullhorns off ebay last week (must check po box on way home) which are similar to these, tho not as long. These ones may be stoker handlebars.

Brother has a digi and just gotback from the US where he picked up an iPod which he use for the obligatory tunes but also as a storage device for his myraid of pics (you gotta get a approx$90 attachment to connect digi)
$430 + $90 for 15Gb of portable storage is WAY cheaper than anything out there now. And you get to take he tunes...

Bit of both. Taking a suitcase simply because that's what
I own, but also a backpack and camera bag for walking
around with. But we'll be staying as cheap as possible, so

I just bought a $400 portable cd-burner that has a builtin
card reader from www.eyo.com.au. It's an "Apacer Steno
CP200 DVD Combo" drive. I don't like hard drive options.

www.powerinnumbers.com.au has a 30gb X-Drive for
$300aud. They are based just down the road in Malvern/Armadale and have quite a good rep. I've bought
CF from them before.

Looks like I may be going over to Europe/NY with 'her-indoors' shortly (she'll be going to toy fairs over there so I get to tag along).
I may find myself in Europe during the TdF so I can leave her in Dusseldorf and hopefully get to see the 'show'. WOOOOHOOOO!

I like the idea of using those tt bars (nice fixie too). The forward facing shoulder on them might be a problem though (for commuting anyway).

It would be good if you could get horn like barends (🙂) that you could attach to a flat bar, not for racing or anything just for long rides.

In europe you can buy bikes with a 'trekking' style handlebar http://www.onecer.net/abbotsfordcycles/trekking-bars.html (something to check out when you're over there Hippy). For $35 at Abbotsford Cycles I might give them a go too.

Rivendell sell alot of handlebars here http://rivendellbicycles.com/webalog/handlebars_stems_tape/ that might be worth checking out, especially the moustache bar.

Modolo http://www.modolo.com/ manufacture alot of trekking bars as well.

btw in Italy look for penshi-onee (or pensioner) accommodation/motels (um, not exactly the correct spelling but I think thats how you say it, :o lol) for a cheap and good place to stay. Also give hostels in Germany a miss unless you enjoy hundreds of German schoolkids arriving the day after you book in, honest! (arrgh). Oh, and a jewellery store in Germany is called a Schmuck boutique 😉.

I've got these bars on the Hello Kitty Tourer, purchased at Abbotsford Cycles (via Christies). Excellent value for $35, multiple hand positions etc. Added cork tape + extra comfy molded grips. Have done some touring with these, great for short types who dislike drop handle bars.

As I think is explained somewhere on the Gaansari site,
they're 'moustache' handlebars. The shape was developed by a
guy called Grant Petersen when he was brand manager for
Bridgestone bikes in the US. Petersen now runs Rivendell

The only thing wrong with the latest E-E Orbeas is that
they're not orange enough! Yeah, okay, it's carbon fiber, so
