will back down. Any chance of agreeing to disagree like adults? I'm
sure the one who walks away from the argument will come out looking
like the better man. The one who carries on will just look like a sad

the reasons for them doing so may or may not be connected with how
they appear
but IMO the 'rec' in the group name is open to personal interpretation
the 'cycling' in the group name is not - & as a result I'm always on

had a parking ticket either. How odd.--

Do you believe him?I have no evidence to justify disbelieving him.
I cycle regularly and never go through correctly functioning red
traffic lights or the wrong way down one-way streets. Are you also
going to call me a liar?regards, Ian SMith

right answer. However here, there is an entirely obvious right
answer. Assuming he drives regularly, which he says he does,
Spindrift speeds, and if he denies it, he is a liar. (You have to ask
yourself why he would lie, unless he was concerned that the truth
would make his speeding-related arguments look absurd. And you have
to ask yourself why he would make arguments which he knew to be
absurd, unless he had an ulterior motive for his camera support, e.g.
a pathetic hatred of motorists, and/or a financial interest in the use
of cameras.)If you came across two people arguing, with Person A telling Person B
that he was breathing, and Person B saying "No, I never breathe",
would you tell them to "agree to disagree like adults"? Personally I
would tell Person B to stop being a lying [censored], and it's the same with
SPINdrift. -

I'll stop talking about him being a hypocritical speeder himself. But
I don't think that's going to happen any time soon. You can't let him have his say but not his opponents.

Just to be clear about what "never speeding" actually means, since
you're clearly having trouble. Never speeding means, err, *never*
going above the speed limit by *any* amount. It doesn't mean "only
drifting over occasionally". It doesn't mean "going over the limit
but not meaning to". It doesn't mean "going over the limit but at
less than the prosecution threshold". It doesn't mean "never getting
caught" (which you seem to think it does from your "clean licence"
comment). It means, surprisingly enough, never speeding. So just to confirm that you're saying that you never exceed the speed
limit, by any amount, for any amount of time? -

claiming to use logic and then saying dumb things like the above. You have yet to offer any evidence (or even, come to that, a baseless
assertion) that everyone that drives speeds.Quoted message said:

when person A then called him a lying [censored] without any supporting

twit. I would probably point this out to person A, but then leave him
to continue assuring everyone that he really was Napoleon, Emperor of

to assume we all have your levels of comprehension. If someone says
they never speed, I see no particular reason to disbelieve them.Obviously (from your inability to accept the statements of others)
your driving is of a very poor standard, and you struggle to control
your speed, but that doesn't necessarily apply to everyone else. Not
everyone is the same as you. Many of us are grateful for this.regards, Ian SMith

It is possible not to speed in my car because I have a thing called a
speedo and a thingy called a break (sorry for no technical names, I am
a girl). I have found them very useful in my years of driving as they
prevent me from speeding quite well. When I seee a 30 sign, I push
this break thing till the number on the speedo says 30 or less. -

going too fast :-)--

Na, I brake slowly and in good time like I was taught so by the time I
pass the sign I am doing 30. Often I don't need to though as I just
take my foot off the other pedal...the what's it called. -

In any case, even if I did speed and was subsequently fined for it, the last
thing I would do would be to whine and bleat about being hard done by. I
broke the law and got caught - end of story. Also, I am stunned at the number of drivers who overtake me in 30 mph limit
that depend on their car for their living such as taxi drivers. They get
banned, they lose their jobs - can't understand the mentality.--

master. I'm certainly not "staring constantly" at my speedo like many

surprise me though when anti-camera people claim that driving is made
more dangerous because of the constant need to stare at the speedo. For
me, the clues are subtle things like engine and road noise, and how fast
the outside world is moving relative to the car. Oh well!(The word 'subtle' above was intended to be mildly sarcastic, but I
don't think it read that way at all!)--
