  1. If any of you need to reach me please e-mail me or post on my message board. I used to read this NG
every day and it used to be a somewhat reliable way to reach me but I won't be reading it too often
anymore. I'll check in every so often to make sure that I'm not missing anything. The OT stuff has
killed it for me. Congrats to Ed Dolan! Had no idea that one jerk could so easily kill such a good
thing. (Yes I know, Ed.... You are only responding to everyone else and you're fighting the good
fight against all of the horrible liberals, blah, blah, blah...)

  2. I'm with you Bryan. The intellectual level of the discourse here has diminished to the point where
the name of the newsgroup is approaching irrelevancy. All the OT stuff and the lunatic ravings of
self-righteous small-minded ideologues is becoming tiresome. To Ed and the others - try to remember
that passion and conviction are not substitutes for thoughtfulness or correctness. Karma is real -
believe it or become an example of it...

Sounds a bit extreme, and maybe not that smart to me... This newsgroup surely has lots of people
with brains, manners and experience on bents. You let go of all that because of a few jerks? You
could always just ignore the non-productive posters (sometimes it just isn't worth it replying...).
Or vouch for a moderated newsgroup if you think that would help!

I activated a kill filter for the two worst offenders and the amount of OT posts I see has dropped
to a very easily ignored, low, number.

  6. It's honestly SAD that a lot of my fellow recumboers are deciding to sign off from the a.r.b.r NG,
based on a few "GOOFS that continue to post OT's here. I honestly hope you all will reconsider,
    otherwise JERKOFFS like Ed
D... and others WIN at killing off those posters that are TRULY interested in recumbent bicycling
and only that in this particular NG. If you're using Outlook express all you would need to do (As
I have just done) is click on tools, then "Message rules" and set up a kill file filter for O.T.,
OT and ot in the subject line area OR the idiots name (Posting the OT) in the "From" area. I don't
get anyone's OT postings anymore and if that results in some longtime fellow posters missing, that
so be it. It's obvious the majority of recumbent interests here DON'T WANT TO SEE YOUR [censored] OT
postings. It's a free for all world out there in Newsgroup land and there has always been (And
will be) TROLLS AND OT posters out there. Don't let them win! Take a few moments and filter their
collective Troll / OT asses out!!! EZ (No OT's anymore) Biker :-) Pompano Beach, Fl. (Bacchetta

Trouble with filtering "ot" is that OE also filters out threads like: "These tires explode, do not
buy". Just a silly example but it triggers on the "ot" in "not".

Why do people have to start a new "Farewell, I'm leaving"-thread btw? Almost more OT threads
    complaining about OT threads now.

Before you go, you might want to get a good newsclient. Gravity is my newsclient of choice. I have
not seen most of the posts these past few weeks. I have seen statistics that read "unread posts on
server: 35" and my news client will down load 18. Not too good signal to noise ratio lately, but my
blood is not boiling and I haven't wasted any time skimming over drivel.

I'm using Agent, and I only had to set two filters one time each. The group looks much less
    cluttered now.

I understand your reasoning. I felt the same way until I discovered the filtering feature. Being on this board for about four or five years I have discovered that this stuff comes in cycles (no pun intended). This is always someone trying to stir up the crowd. But why feed these posters?

I do not see Ed Dolans or some other's posts anymore because I have elected not too. Why can't others do the same?

Nope, not a word about Mr. Sherman. I guess this ought to tell everyone where Mr. Ball is coming
from. For the editor of an online magazine he seems to have an awful lot of difficulty navigating
his way through something so simple as Google ARBR. Maybe one of these days I will have to have a
look at his rag and see if it is as screwed up as his posts to this newsgroup are.

Yeah, you got that right Zippy. I have never seen such hypocrisy in my life. These guys will be
around forever and they will never leave. One of these days they may actually learn how to operate
their news readers. I just stay on the Google site myself and I do not have the least bit of
difficulty deciding who and what I want to read. A total no-brainer!

Anyone who wants to go to the HPV site should do so and there they will find the biggest collection
of jerks in the world. I once subscribed to that list myself and couldn't get off of it fast enough.
Nothing but junk posts by total idiots. We here on ARBR never had it so good. Some poor souls just
don't know when they are well off.
