Quoted message said:1. Is running downhill that bad for your shins if you jog at a slow
rate?
Let's just say it it puts extra pressure on the shins. If your shins are
a problem area then it may [censored] them off. Sometimes slowing the pace can
help and other times it can hurt. It's more about downhill(and the
degree of downward slope) technique and pace.
Quoted message said:2.Does interrupting your running by walking reduce your chances of
injury. I mean, can you run a lot further without injury if you have
interruption in the running?
This is a loaded question with a hundred different answers. If one has
say PF and they run uphill they will really [censored] the fasciia where
walking up will have less impact albeit just a little less smart in
general because hills and PF are oil and water. What is consistent is
that walking casuses less impact and if you have a problem where impact
is a factor, then you need to walk, bike or pogo stick. Do you really
think there is an easy/single answer to this???
Quoted message said:3.Does running up and down hills versus running of the flat lessen
your chances of injury?
Come on even you must know by now that running up and down hills causes
more stress then level ground. You get injured when you do too much, too
soon too fast on any surface but hills can up (pun intended) the ante.
All training is about intermixing an variety of terrain, paces and or
hard/easy days to allow recovery. Speaking of recovery, does this notion
even echo in you synapse structure.
Quoted message said:I have an adventure race in 4 weeks so I need to up my running
drastically.
I'd just go out today in do 20 miles of severe up and down hills to
hurry up and get in shape. You want drastic, try this. Follow this and
you can really claim I [censored] you up. Maybe you should get healed before
you do a race. Nah, just push on, I've grown to love your whininess and
maybe others will learn what not to do from you.
Quoted message said:I will work more on my biking because I assume you can
improve uphill biking faster than you can improve running?
You can abuse yourself with the bike, snowshoes, skis, etc. also.
Everything in moderation. Another interesting notion for your
vocabulary, moderation. Let's hope you learned two new concepts today,
recovery and moderation.
