Exeter would be cool. And more events sounds good, though I'm yet to go
to a BUC. I'll be there next year though 🙂

because of this.

If no muni, then at least a distance ride of any description through
good scenery. The ride from Pindar school to the Scarborough seafront
wasn't exactly "real muni", but still a fantastic thing to enjoy and
satisfy me.

The racetrack... well I've already been waiting three months for a
guni. It -should- come by BUC2007, shouldn't it???😕

The problem with events is that you're trying to a)get a bunch of
unicyclists organised and b)get british unicyclists to be competitive.
I'd have a go though.

As for muni, there's haldon woods about 6 miles south of exeter, and
that's quite good. A bunch of us went there after the dartmoor muni
weekend - it's where phil fell out of a tree on a unicycle. Ace fun,
not easy as BUC muni rides go, but then there's a bunch of routes.

I would dispute your claim that it's a good location though. It's
bloomin miles away!

Woodbury Common and Haldon Forest are both within a twenty minute drive
of Exeter; both are excellent muni spots.

but you dont want the whole convention to be about comps, i liked the
fact i could go to my first one and not feel pressured to enter any
comps

and i dont think a lot of unicyclists would enter, (where a modest
bunch us Brits)

but I'm sure you would get plenty of people turning up to the
convention. SO if the comps didn't seam intimidating I'm sure plenty
would enter and have fun

I would like to have a High Jump and Long Jump, I feel that these
compitions would be a nice add. Along with the other compititions.

Those places Amanda linked to are Exeter Arena (A running track, also
has A skatepark next door) and Flower Pot Skatepark. Flower Pot
skatepark is not the skate park next to Exeter Arena.

Good idea to have it in Exeter :p

NOOOOOOOO! You can't have it in Exeter! Thats a bit further than
Scarbrough! We almost couldn't get to BUC2006! We would never be able
to get to Exeter!
I reckon it should be in the middle of the country. So that no-one is
REALLY far away.

I remember one of the organisors this year prevailing upon me to enter
the freestyle competition on the basis that I was at least garunteed to
get fourth as there were only 3 other competitors. She must have been
despirate.

I suggest 'Warwick School'
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Warwick_School): Very central, full set
of facilities (2 massive halls, and 1 smaller one, outdoor (grass)
running track for racing, enclosed tennis courts to build a trials
course on, massive fields for camping, 'theatre'
(http://www.bridgehousetheatre.co.uk/aboutus.htm) for the show, etc,
etc). It also already holds events like the warwick folk festival, so
it wouldn't be unprecedented to hold an event like this there. Only
problem is there's nothing really suitable for Muni, as you can see,
its pretty flat:

Another (non-central) idea would be the 'St Pauls Catholic College'
(http://www.st-pauls.w-sussex.sch.uk/newbuilding.asp) in Burgess Hill,
Sussex. Large modern facilities, very close to the South Downs for
Muni, availability of the Triangle Leisure center for more space...
Only problem is no running track for races...

South? How about somewhere a little further North that's more
accessible to everyone. I know you're not offering to organise next

all suggested locations should be great. There loads of muni
opportunities almost wherever it would be, it just requires a little
local knowledge and transport 🙂

Another track event would be a 4x100 metre relay. Adding a full set of
track events would definitely add a day and require more organisation -
race entries, numbers, timing, results...

Finally, if you want an event to be near you - organise it yourself!
(that goes for all events, wherever in the world they may be). There's
plenty of information out there, or talk to someone with experience.

i would be well up for *helping* somebody organise it, Lucas said he
would too. but im only 15 so obviously i cant organise a whole BUC all
by myself.

ps. about the extended length, most BUCs are done right after the end
of half term holidays. why not have them then in the holidays so they
can last longer?

I've got to speak up about Exeter aswell.

It's chuffin' down south! The BUC's been a traditionally northern thing
so why not compromise and try and set it somewhere in central Englad,
so it's as convenient for everyone as possible.

Back to events suggestions, I completely agree with Amanda. UNICON was
great because there were so many events. Even if people didn't want to
enter the events, they are great fun to watch and with a warm
atmosphere you almost feel like you ARE part of the action.
Roger has asked me to get together a set of rules for a street
freestyle event at BUC 2007. I have more or less taken the rules used a
UNICON but tried to introduce an X-Games style runs element to it, then
again it all depends on how many people take part. I urge everyone in
the UK to take part in something this coming BUC. I am very
competitive, but even if you aren't, the experience is fantastic and
everyone has great fun. What I learnt from UNICON is to take part in as
much as possible, even if you ain't the best in the world at it.
