Tire recommendation?

Penny, My tyre of choice is the Specialized HardRock'R, which, despite the cheesy name and the fact
that it comes from a known supplier of bad tyres (!) has worked well for 3 years for me. My riding
conditions sound similar to yours, although I do have wet roots to add to the mix. If nothing else,
they are cheapish to try. ;-) Steve

I really like my IRC Serac XC 2.1's for all around tires - don't believe the weight claims, they're
still pretty heavy. Oh, and make sure you have enough pressure in them - they're grippy enough that
even if you're not pinch flatting, if you land an air banked to turn, they have a tendency to roll
over. Just ask my right eyebrow....

I like the Jones AC (XC-type, I forget the numbers that go with the name)
2.1's for general XC.

I've recently gotten some Intense System 4 2.25's on my FS and those things are awesome! They aren't
as fast as some of the more XC-ish tires but the handling is amazing.

I'll second that. I went to Fire XC's earlier this year and it made a noticeable improvement in my
riding. Especially the handling. My trail conditions are similar to yours.

Also, they seem to be wearing reasonably, even though I do my fair share of street riding.

Geeze Jon. Just because they have the PFR casing as the Cujo's doesn't make 'em a DH tire!!! ;^)

I run my Serac's with very low pressure 25 psi on XC trails and they are great all around. Get the
Japanese mfgr. redwalls.

Yeah, Jon, DH on a Blur sets you up for all kinds of difficulties 🙂

And for Penny...I've been pimping Seracs here for a while, and plan on continuing. They are faster
than anything I've tried, grip great in almost anything, etc...you get the idea.

Tell you what...since it's your birthday, and you're the most helpful (you've sent me advice on
building skills courses and on garment design) and consistently polite person here (possibly on
Earth) I'll send you a set of Serac 2.1Ks. They're almost brand new - I'm only not using them
because they're "regular", and I switched over to Tubeless shortly after getting that set. I was
going to donate them to a friend, but he's in NY now, and likes tires about 3 inches wide.

So, provided you're interested, they're yours. Happy Birthday. Also, Sorni sent me some brake studs
about 6 months ago, and this will help me even out the karma 🙂
