I figured he had won the Tour of Romandie when I was watching the
German news on SBS this morning.

I hear the newsreader saying the words "Romandie" and "Cadel Evans".

Immediately after that, the news switches focus to Ullrich ...

So Cadel gets a one sentence mention on the news.

One more sentence than he will get on Australian Tv now the footie season is
on , SBS excepted that is .
Talking of SBS , is it only me that finds it strange that SBS 'World' Sport
covers 'Aussie Rules' in its nightly report? I would have thought that it
would have been pretty well covered on all the other channels.

cyclingcentral that the TdF would not be interrupted this year. Was
it because of the complaints to the SBS that they are meant to be a
multicultural station, TdF is both cultural, and the most watched
sport in the world, and cricket... isn't?

Cup is 9th June to 9th July, and TdF starts 1st July. Given SBS are
doing both how will that work?

Presumably many/most of the WorldCup games will be palyed at nigh (ie primetime TV) in Germany, thus NOT clashing (too much, if at all with TdF.
No idea if my theory is correct or not tho...

Mike T may have jumped the gun in his (a fervent hope perhaps!) that their coverage of the TdeF wont be interrupted...cricket is one thing, but I'm sure I'm not alone stating World Cup Football is certainly SBS's priority to its core audience this June/July...we wait and see, no matter I don't mind the early stages copping a swap here and there, but that's me...

PS you can catch the Giro on RAI if you dont mind edited segments here and there and tho'. mainly in Italiano, the eye candy is worth getting in a supply of Grisini, pre-made pizza bits, some grappa, peaches & marscapone with vanilla gelati and almond sprinkles..bella bella...ciao ( hopefully Gabrielle Gaté wont have hopped over to RAI..but then he's sort of french and the Italiani will fix him like they fix a Citröen or a Renault in Italy, very slowly and very badly... ah gotta love 'em all!

I don't mind (too much) live cycling getting bumped for (insert sport of
choice here); that's not what got my goat last year. What bothered me
was having cycling advertised with nary a mention of any other sport
only to tune in and get 2 minutes of cycling and the over an hour of
cricket, by which time I gave up and went to bed.

If I'd known it was going to be cricket I'd have been in bed a lot earlier.

Oh yes, too easy. Much easier than trying to grind a 53 x 15 up Bronte
Road (*) ...

(*) the only major climb of the Sydney 2000 Olympics. And I have been
trying to get myself to ride it for the last 2 weeks. Not in a big
gear, of course.
