that title is for JD's benefit.
me, just another frustrated anal retentive type. On our ride last weekend, my bike mileage came up
about 1.75 short as to what Mr. Adventure came up with on the GPS. His device was tracking poorly in
areas due to tree coverage, but even after I adjusted the GPS track on the computer so it was more
true to route, the odometer was still way off. Normally we've been with in a tenth or two of each
other, all summer long.
So I recheck the tire settings, aargh, 2 mm off in the A setting (which I have been using) and 7 mm
off in the B setting which is the low speed/mtb one I just read that I should be using in the
manual. The worst thing is all those stupid buttons... after trying to get the B setting correct for
1/2 an hour I gave up. ( I have done the math for how much error those variations will give you,
something like 1/10 of a mile after 100 miles...)
Why do I care anyway? Well..... today's total reading is 938 miles, since last July. My goal for the
summer was 500 and I am way past that as I started at 300 this spring. But oh, that rollover to 1K!
What a moment to strive for, that's some landmark, for me at any rate. It's going to make me crazy
thinking that it's off somewhere.
La di da....
