Almost. Two times his derailleur slammed up at places on the course from
where he had to run a rather long way. To be fair, Wellens was always
challenging, keeping Nys dangling behind him a few meters more than
necessary. Nys did make up 30 sec in the last lap but Wellens had quite
the comfortable lead on Dlask by then.

Yeah. Levitt has a response on his blog. The error was pretty embarrassing
since Levitt made his reputation in applying econometric models to social
data (rather like Becker) but there's a bunch of other
sociological/anthropological/demographic evidence that seems consistent
with the unwantedness hypothesis. In some sense, Levitt's work mostly
brought this stuff to the attention of economists (and thus, The
Economist) but it doesn't affect the microlevel data.
