Did I spell that right? I need suggestions for easy and yummy, and
possibly festive (?). Has to be easily made with a little one
underfoot! It could be a hot one, or not - I only need to take it
nextdoor - but probably needs to be one that tastes ok if not piping
hot. I will google but I thought maybe some of you have encountered
something special recently, since the Holiday season is upon us.
Thanks!

I'll post them.A REALLY easy one is to place a block of cream cheese on a serving
dish, then mix salad shrimp (or crabmeat) with cocktail sauce, and
pour over the cream cheese. Spread on Ritz crackers. You could maybe
toss a couple sprigs of parsley on it for a nicer presentation.Carol

-L.Chicken livers wrapped in bacon and sautee'd in a bit of olive oil.
Secure with a toothpick and add a slice of canned water chestnut to the
toothpick when done. ;-dCheese and cracker tray also works, as does a veggie dip tray with raw
veggies and a bowl of ranch dressing in the middle.Cheese balls and a couple of boxes of crackers also work and cheese
balls are easy to make. Ritz, wheat thins, or even just cheap soda
crackers, but I personally prefer club crackers.Shrimp ring, if you can afford it.

found these one day and they were a HUGE hit. You can prepare the meat the
day before and re-heat it to put in the wonton wrappers - really pretty and
the salsa is red and scallion is green :-)

-L.Here's a favorite appetizer of mine (and many other people in this ng):
http://tinyurl.com/btrgq.It's always a hit whenever I make it (just made it yesterday to take to a
cookie exchange party). It's easy to make, and it's very festive, with the
green pesto and red sundried tomatoes. Also, at the party last night, the hostess made some hors d'oeuvres with
ancho chilis (seeded) stuffed with monterey jack and baked. (She sprinkled a
tiny bit of cayenne on each one before baking.) Very easy to make, and they
were good.Mary

--My family does something similar, Carol, and it's easy. 1/2 sour cream, 1/2
cream cheese, chopped crab or shrimp, lemon juice, cocktail sauce, dash
worcestershire sauce, a dabble of horseradish and give it a stir. Serve on
crackers, but for a healthier alternative, you can use celery sticks, too.
Texture should be that close to ricotta cheese.Another easy thing is the Mexican 7-layered dip with cream cheese, refried
beans, tomatoes, shredded cheddar cheese, black olives, green onions and
either avocados or guacamole.kili

I would make Vol-au-vent filled with "all and more" (translation: filled
with what you want). For example I would put inside an ham and philadelphia
sauce with green olives! Or pieces of Fontina (you put in the MW at the last
moment) seasoned with herbs and black pepper; gorgonzola and anchovies; etc.
Cheers

-----------------------------------------------Open and remove the oysters and wrap each in a very thin rasher of
bacon. Impale them on small skewers, season and grill. Arrange on
slices of toast the same size and shape as the skewers, sprinkle with a
few fine bread crumbs or fried bread crumbs and season with cayenne.Oysters Marechal are just poached oysters, dipped in batter and deep
fried and served with lemon. If you can afford and find a good Russian caviar serve it with blinis.
One large or many small quiches, canapés a la Danoise are merely bite
sized or slightly larger toasted rounds of a good dark rye or other
brown bread, spread with horseradish butter and topped with smoked
salmon, marinated shrimp, oysters etc. garlic butter is a good
substitute for the horseradish butter. Small rounds of toasted bread
coated with mustard butter and topped with a thin slice of cooked ham..Celri a la bonne femme is merely finely diced celery and the same
quantity of pippin apples cut into small dice and mixed together with a
mustard and cream sauce. And last but not least, a good potato salad is
usually welcome, use new red or white potatoes for the best flavor.

Thanks!Smoked salmon canapés. Get a package of those small, square pumpernickel
slices or squares of some other dark rye, spread them with cream cheese
and a slice of smoked salmon and garnish with thinly sliced onion and
some capers. Garnish the plate with lemon wedges. You can do a similar thing with smoked eel. Put a glob of egg salad on
the bread and top with a piece of smoked eel. It may be best not to
tell people that it is eel because people are weird about eel. It is
really good. The times that I have served it at parties I never told
people what it was until after they tried it. -

-L.Make a pan of hamburger...like for tacos add the taco seasoning as well.
soon as it is cooked remove from pan.meanwhile with a 3 inch cookie cutter make a mess of 3 inch circles out of
a bunch of tortillas. Lightly grease a mini muffin pan. Insert the tortilla
circles into the mini muffin pan and make cups and bake at 350 till nicely
golden brown. Put the taco hamburger in the cups; top with salsa, shreded
cheese and sour cream--

I'm not Nancy, but I know of a fabulous filling that would work well
