I'm looking for a hint.
I have two bikes, both with ErgoBrain 10's, Record brifters and a triple
chainwheel. One setup works just fine. The other one is touchy. It isn't
the computer, since the problem persists when I interchange them. It is
in the contacts on the harness or the left brifter.
The problem: I have difficulty in setting the chainring shift timing,
usually winding up with ERROR when moving from the middle chainring to
the large. I must tension the cable tightly when on the small chain
ring, so that any movement of the lever moves the cage -- no slack
allowed. With care I can traverse the shift timing sequence with the
bike on the bike stand, but then when on the road, the display will
blank and I must touch the lever to get it back -- this mostly happens
when I am on the large chainring. It is a nuisance.
I have reinstalled the harness, and examined the contacts, but I don't
see anything wrong. I'd replace the harness if I knew that it was at
fault, but it could be the lever contact.
Any suggestions? Is there a Campy tech bulletin on this?
