  1. Every week I notice something new. I try not to anticipate any changes
because I don't want to get disappointed. But every week something
pops up and I notice a "good thing".

First was my emotional state which has leveled out and stayed that
    way. Thank goodness!

Then it was my energy level. I find myself wandering around looking
for things to do because I just can't sit at the computer anymore --
my house looks great, by the way. ;-)

Then it was much fewer headaches. Used to get them all the time
(almost daily) and thought it was my glasses or my monitor. Last week
I realized I can't remember the last time I had a headache. This is
    *very nice*.

This week -- my hair isn't falling out anymore!

Now, in deference to our shiny domed friends (and I think you guys are
*hotties* by the way!), my problem wasn't anywhere near that. But
every time I washed it, there was enough hair to clog the bathtub
drain (I cut off my hair last year and now it's only down to my
shoulders) and it was quite irritating!

Not today, I noticed. And not last time, or the time before that
either. As with most of my "revelations", I can't pin this down to a
certain day. But that's a little detail I'm not going to worry about.
    :-)

Thanks to everyone who has helped. It's making a big difference and I
    really appreciate you all. :-)

FYI -- Less than 1,200 calories per day (the last week or so it's been
less than 1,000, but I'm sure that will change soon), 30-40g carbs per
    day, BGLs consistently normal.

August Goals: Keep BGLs in normal range; Not hungry, don't eat
    Weight: 25 pounds gone (whoop!)
    Measurements: 9 inches gone 06/19/2005
    Cholesterol: 145
    FBG: <110 since 07/01/2005 A1c 6.8! Ack!

My energy level has definately improved also, along with my housekeeping
    abilities. 🙂

I too used to get alot of headaches, more like migraines, but not anymore.
I'm rarely popping the tylenol or advil nowadays.

Unfortunately, my hair is still so thin that I have to wear a wig. But my
hair loss is genetic and it won't grow back no matter how much my health
    improves.

Why don't you try minoxidil? It's cheap, and I can tell you from
    personal experience, it works.

Cause I don't want the side effects, and I don't want the stink. I've been
through many meds for hormones and [censored] and i'm done with it.
I'd rather buzz my own hair and wear my wig. Much easier and healthier in
    my opinion.

  6. Well, if you're sensitive to the side effects, I guess I can
understand that. The main side effect for me appears to be lowered
blood pressure. My wife has never noticed an odor though.

Another good place to go is http://www.drproctor.com... I recommend
his NANO shampoo and conditioner. But if you're satisfied with the buzz
cut and etc., then never mind...

This week -- my hair isn't falling out anymore!

About 6 months after starting Atkins I compared before
and after photos. The advance of grey seemed to have
gotten several years set-back. It was amazing. I
have since stayed on mostly-Atkins-Maintenance for
long enough that there's more grey no matter the set
back, but I took any delay I could get.

Hm. Maybe it will slow my hair loss...

Before starting Atkins I used to get 3-5 common migraines or
cluster headaches per year. In the 6 years since I started
I've had ONE. It was during a month I was far off the wagon.

  15. Dr. fAtkins was fat. And now he's dead. And his company is in bankruptcy.

  17. Probably just a matter of time before the lawsuits coming pouring in over a
diet that recommended meat as a diet staple. Not to mention the strain it
puts on the body to convert stored fat to glucose. Whatever happened to
just eating a balanced diet only less of everything. Compulsive eaters will
never stay slim no matter what fad diet they are on for a while.
