So when Lance/The Boss passes Basso no one will be surprised that Lance
put another 180 seconds into people who can't beat him? Basso for 2006

Here are the rules-

Article 23 - Individual time trials
In the individual time trial stages, the starting order is as follows:
.. In Fromentine: at one-minute intervals; the starting order is that drawn
up by the race management and team managers.
.. In Saint-Étienne: at 2-minute intervals, then three-minute intervals for
the last starters. Riders start in reverse order of the general ranking
established following the 19th stage. [...]
A rider caught by another may neither lead nor follow in the latter's
slipstream.
A rider must leave a gap of at least 2 meters between himself and any rider
he passes. A rider caught by another rider will stay at least 25 meters
behind the latter.
Any help between riders is forbidden. [...]
Each rider may be accompanied by a vehicle carrying spares. A following
vehicle must remain about 10 m behind its rider; it may never draw level
with him and all information must be communicated from behind. A following
vehicle may take up position between two riders only if they are at least 50
m apart. If this gap closes, the vehicle accompanying the first rider must
immediately drop back behind the second one.

Given that Rasmussen soloed 167 out of 171 km on stage 9 with four cat
3 climbs, a cat 2 climb and a cat 1 climb averaging 41.3 kph, I'm not
quite ready to discount Rasmussen's tt capability.

He (LA) tipped Jan in the post-stage interview today. IMHO, LA would

He had company until he dropped Cioni at 95km. I give him credit for a
76km cannibal time trial. He said it himself, that he's never ridden a
TT at 100%, so it is his secret weapon. I just wonder if he's ever
been in a wind tunnel, or if he's ever done a training ride on his TT
rig. That could hurt him. But I do think it will be impressive.

I think we saw a tired Ras unable to react on thursday's final climb.

Basso will consider Ullrich his top rival but Valverde and some others
are likely to be at their level.

I have this bad feeling that Jan will not focus on his training this
coming year and will pull a Pulidor.

I hope you're right about Basso winning next year.

I would really like to see him try to take the Giro and the Tour. If
he did it, it would go against what Armstrong said would happen in
professional cycling.

I think he's strong enough to do it.

And I think Armstrong could have certainly done it but he was never
willing to risk the Tour. If the Giro was after the tour I would think
he'd have tried during at least one of those years.
