Yeesh!
What've you dudes done to my poor innocent little thread? ;-)
Okay, here is an update on what I have done plan to try.
Rather than doing a fat fast this time in attempt to break this
frustrating stopping point, I just re-balanced the calories a bit and
increased the fat percentage of the calories to about 60% and cut carbs
back almost to zero except for what I get in veggies like celery,
radishes, chard and other leafy greens. Sticking more to chicken and
fish rather than red meat, and getting the fat from mostly dairy.
I'm kinda losing my taste for beef anyway unless I can get range beef.
I've never been overly fond of pork...... When I DO make a pork roast,
it's generously treated with LOTS of garlic and other fresh herbs,
primarily rosemary. Pork has a "fusty" taste to me that needs a lot of
help. I'd not buy it at all except my housemate likes it. It's usually
grilled over a wood fire.
Seems to have worked as my weight is slowly on the downslide again. I'm
down 1 lb. from where I got stuck. We'll see over the next couple of
days if it's just a fluke/fluctuation but I've also noted my pants are
looser than they were around the waistline.
And the acetest tablets for urine ketones are deep purple...
In the meantime, I finally managed to speak with my "guru" at work who
is far more "up" on esoteric supplementation than I am. He's an ER
Doctor who is heavily into longevity medicine, nutritional therapy, and
sports nutrition as well as herbalism and alternative health practices.
Practices what he preaches too. ;-)
So, his recommendations to me for cortisol control were the following:
Beta Sitosterol, 100 mg. twice per day
Alpha Lipoic Acid, 100 to 150 mg. twice per day
Resoveritol, 10-20mg. once per day.
I'll do a bit of googling on those and also check prices at the local
health food stores.
Cheers!
