Hi Dave.
I can only get them from the big city, they're not the sort of thing you
find in the local shops. Calling myself a fan of them is stretching
things a bit, but they seem to do the job.
I bought some High5 a few days ago and discovered its main ingredient is
maltodextren. So instead of paying $26 dollars a tin I can get
maltodextren for $6 a kilo and I'll make my own. Maltodextren is a
common ingredient for brewing beer. You can get it in supermarkets.

I used to make a mix of maltodextren and coke to get me through the Avon
Descent canoe race. If you leave it in the camel back for two days it
ferments and makes a lovely gassy drink.

Tam they're overpriced and over rated and difficult to use. If you
presently use something else then I'd recommend you stick with it. I've
done some investigating and nearly all energy stuff uses maltodextrin as
a base with flavoring added. Maltodextrin is a carbohydrate (looks like
talcum powder) which is also called corn syrup and is one of the
ingredients in Coca Cola and Mars Bars.
