Thanks all, I thought the illustration suitably vivid so I did this:

As to the comment "it's on a closed track" - Here's what Mr Coulthard
says:
"HAVE you ever seen me drive a Formula One racing car round a Grand
Prix circuit without wearing a helmet? No, and you won't catch me
riding my bike without wearing a helmet either.
"I ride my bike nearly every day of the year as part of my fitness
training programme and I never cycle without my helmet.
"I love cycling - it's fun and a great form of exercise, but I don’t
want to end up in a hospital Accident and Emergency department with a
head injury. I'd probably never be able to drive a racing car again if
I did and that's not a risk I'm prepared to take.
"Helmets these days are just fantastic. They look good, they feel good
and cyclists look much more professional when they wear one.
"It makes sense not to mess up your head. Get a helmet and wear it."
So, given that F1 is also on a closed track, and given that he's
setting himself up as some kind of helmet saint (and on behalf of
BeHIT, aka Compulsion'R'Us), I'd say that this was a fair cop.
