Did you enjoy Striding Edge ? No problems with vertigo ? IIRC you were a
    *bit* worried about that.

    Hi Theo 🙂

I was a *lot* worried, but in the end Striding Edge was an absolute
blast! I wasn't on my own this time. and that made all the difference.
Darren went first and encouraged me along, and I found that very soon
my confidence increased enormously. I think part of it was because I
didn't feel any pressure to hurry, so's not to hold anyone up from
    behind.

We went right over the top all the way, which is something I've never
done before, even when I was a student, and although there were
several moments when my tummy churned, my toes curled and I had to
stop to take a few deep breaths, I didn't experience vertigo at any
    stage.

If anything, I'd been almost more worried about the descent down
Swirral Edge, because it's over 10 years since I last did that and I
remembered it as even more fearsome than Striding Edge. In the event,
    though, it was fine.

The whole experience was great, and I think I'll approach my next
scramble with a great deal more confidence. I'm even thinking of
applying for a little scrambling course 🙂

    Thanks for asking!

    Best wishes,

  4. I've been going to the Lakes for 40 years and the place still fills me with
    wonder.

Camped on top of St Sunday Crag for the first time, bit stony but found a
soft spot. No running water but still some good patches unmelted snow on
the SE side of the crag (strange not the northern sides).

Nice clear even warmish sunset, I was able to cook outside properly for the
first time this year, not in my bag lying half out the tent.

Stunning inversion at dawn with cloud flowing like a massive stream into
Grisedale between Fairfield and Dollywagon. I wish I had the words to do it
    justice.

I've sent some photos to http://www.mwis.org.uk/ don't know if they are good
enough to get onsite. Does anyone know what format/size they prefer?

I think Spring is my favourite season, the smells, colours, temperature,
warmer breezes just do it for me.

Hope everyone has an excellent season.

    Thanks for replies btw

According to the weatherforecast at http://www.mwis.org.uk/ there is a
very good chance of a temperature inversion this Sunday morning in the
Lakes. Does anyone know of a place for me to wild camp at height to see
the inversion at its best, best veiws etc.
    Many thanks for any suggestions,
    Martin

    Hoi PW :-))

If you ever go to Scotland for scrambling : try Curved Ridge on the
Buachaille Etive Mor. Don't go alone and don't look down = :-0

mwis now updated. The inversion is still forecast, but it's for
    Scotland on Saturday.

Though it was Scotland on Sunday and the book is called "Inversions"

Gratuitous Banks ref over, I got no invertions on Sat, but could see
plenty of veidence of them elsewhere, especially the Fannaichs and
Black Cuillin. There were reports of Brocken spectres on Liathach
    and Alligin.

    I just got roasting sunshine....

    This is not a complaint.

It's my fault for being confusing about where I was. I was standing
about half way up Rosset Gill looking back down towards Langdale, so I
think it must have been Pike of Stickle or Loft Crag - I'm not very
good at working these things out, I'm afraid!

  14. Presumably you don't have your own web site. So why not open yourself a
freeserve (wanabee) account, you get good reliable free space their. when
you get the hang of it sticking images on the web is as quick and simple as
    email!

Failing that just post them onto this group as an attachment, some die hards
will moan like f***, but so what, it will give them something to whine about
and the rest of us something to look at.

BTW ... great to see a top poster, far better than sticking everything on
the bottom of the page forcing everyone to moronically scroll down!

I don't usually rise to the bait but every so often we get a top poster
who is even more stupid than the general run of ignorant, ill educated,
arrogant, gormless, inconsiderate, moronic top posters which moves me to
say a few words before the expected *plonk*.
