case of the 'why bothers'..

i had a major dose of the "this is all pretty pointless and meaningless" at our recent club presentations. I was one of two single ppl there, which was weirding me out anyway.... so everyone's with their significant others, admiring their shiny trophies, lots of congrats and kissing etc.. I took mine home and showed the cat....
So I had to figure out why the h3ll I do this thing.... not for the shiny bit of plastic at the end (altho thats nice), or for someone else (cos there is no one else), not to prove to someone else (see previous point) but why??? Cos it keeps me sane: I love the endorphin and adrenalin rushes, love the mental and physical work behind being at the pointy end (when I can!!!!), I love the speed, the solitude, the companionship and comraderie, working hard and getting results, being fit, the funny tan lines, the sound of the chain whizzing, the wind thru the spokes, dragging cars off at lights, bunnyhopping [censored] road surfaces when they leap up at you at the last minute, swerving dinosaur sized goannas, screaming along tight windy tracks thru the bush, grinding up hills for awesome views, wearing cool sunnies, having the hugest quads of any female at the gym, being able to eat lots of chocolate and not worry (too much) about putting on weight, riding 100+ km 1) for something to do and 2) cos you can, cos it sure beats running for a sport.. .. .. .. ..
