  1. I'm on day 8 of induction and I must admit that I have been feeling pretty
tired the last few days........is this normal?

I've also lost 7.25 lbs, so I sticking with it.

I've eaten a few strawberries everyday......does anyone think this will
    impede my progress?

  2. I've been eating eggs, smoked ham, bacon, salads, chicken, shrimp, steak,
sausage, ground beef, pork......no bread, no pasta, some veggies like green
and red peppers and mushrooms, only a few strawberries, lots of water.

I've been spending 30 minutes every day in the pool treading water.....a few
days I went for 60 minutes......one or 2 black cups of coffee in the
    morning.

Any indication of wrong doing? DO you want me to be more specific?

Will a few strawberries a day impede your progress? Probably not.

Will the fact that you can't seem to follow fairly simple instructions
    impede your progress? Probably so.

Yes. Most people feel more energy by day 4 or 5, but some people take a little
    longer.

Well, technicially fruit is not allowed during induction. Will it impede your
progress? Hard to say. They may make it a little harder to kick the carb
cravings and they take up a portion of your 20-carb allotment.

  5. I don't know exactly how many carbs I've been getting, but it's probably
only about 10 per day right now. I was going to wait out the 2 weeks before
I start increasing my carbs..........I think I will probably have to stay
around 45 carbs per day in order to maintain good BG control.........right
now, my numbers have never been better!

I think that you can safely increase that number a bit, with your

  6. Hi Bryan...............following the simple rules was kind of hard because I
didn't really have the entire concept before I started. I only learned of
the "no-fruit" 4 days into it. I honestly thought that 20 carbs max was
what induction was all about. I accidentally purchased the wrong book so I
didn't want to stop until this weekend when I will purchase the proper book.
At least I am still losing and it obviously means that the strawberries are
    impeding my loss dramatically.

I am new to this and I am here to learn. Thanks for your posting. I
    appreciate the comments.

  8. It took me several tries to get through induction Eddie. I would leave
out the strawberries for the two weeks, and maybe the smoked ham, but
YMMV and it might not be a problem. I was also tired for at least a
week, with an occasional headache here and there. Hang in there and

At your weight and with some activity, I doubt it. And since you've been
droping water weight, I'd say mostly everything is working fine. You might
even back off on the exercise a bit until you start to feel better. Also,
make sure you're eating the full 20 carbs per day you're allowed. Get those
    from green leafy veggies, too.

I wouldn't worry too much about induction. It is not an absolute requirement
for successful LC weight loss. However, it is part of the Atkins program,
so if you're going to claim you're doing Aktins, then do induction AS IT IS
WRITTEN. Otherwise, just say you're rolling your own LC WOE based on bits
and pieces you've gathered up. If you read most of the main LC books, it
is not hard to do. Many here have done that to good success.

budgeting purposes, but just to see, comprehend and ponder on the kinds and
nutritional value of foods I eat.

eventually increased it some. It's not consistent from day to day but
rarely goes above 45. You don't have to follow Atkins exactly to lose
weight. Strawberries are quite low in carbs, I don't see how they are all
    that different from vegetables.

You don't have to 'wait' til your book arrives-- www.atkins.com has 90%

so if you're going to claim you're doing Aktins, then do induction AS IT IS
WRITTEN. Otherwise, just say you're rolling your own LC WOE based on bits
and pieces you've gathered up. If you read most of the main LC books, it
is not hard to do. Many here have done that to good success.

  20. Hey JC.........have you always been a dink or were you just born that way?
LOL!.....guess what dude.........YOU'RE GONNA DIE TOO!!!! hehehehe

    You're going to die.

The only thing that can help now is to drive down to Krispy Kreme and eat a
    dozen.

I'm on day 8 of induction and I must admit that I have been feeling pretty
tired the last few days........is this normal?

I've also lost 7.25 lbs, so I sticking with it.

I've eaten a few strawberries everyday......does anyone think this will
    impede my progress?
