well, instead of going to the shops to buy the cycling+ mag and read about it i just went out on the
bike and done some riding ... meant for it to be just a few miles as i was planning my 15 mile ride
tomorrow but i felt ok and was nice and pleasant so i just carried on.

20.22 miles completed in 1hr52mins, 10.7 mile average

longest ride so far, in fact, doubled my previous longest ride!!

Well I'm jealous. In fact I'm jealous of *anyone* who went out for a ride today. Glorious
weather, and I was tucked up in bed. Roll on the end of my night shifts!

I couldn't get to sleep last night so went out for a bike ride intead, at
6.15am. Wow, it's great out there at that time of the morning.

Sure is, remember all that from my Royal Mail days.

Little chilly to start with but soon warmed up. Sunshine, light winds, empty roads. Best ride
    for ages!

Yes, I had a good ride today too. 1.30pm I was wondering what to do, bit listless and bored, so off
I went to Oxford, via Missenden, Risborough and Thame. Round trip 70 miles. Really felt good, loads
of surplus carbs accumulated during the week, plenty of stuff to burn!

Now the real question is, are you still going out tomorrow and will you set a new best? Or will
you take a recovery day and do something else instead?

    nah, recovery day needed 😉

although if im not too stiff i might go for a swim in the morning. i am treating myself to gold
class seats to see the new terminator movie tomorrow afternoon at the cinema with the GF.

I cycled into town, shopped a bit, then cycled back the scenic route - about 8 miles total,
however tomorrow I will be mostly cycling 10 miles (at 7am!!) to meet a bunch of people I don't
know to then all drive to Claife in the Lakes Dist. and do a bunch of off road and then unless
someone can offer me a lift back, 10 miles back from drop off point. I have my map, compass and
platypus at the ready, just need an early night tonight now!

ouch, off road sounds tough ... ditch the platypus, too much weight to carry round!

Well done again (and I hope Monday morning brings good news too 🙂

not expecting good things this monday - its been one of those sod it weeks! ... although exercise
and fitness is coming on well so overall even if things dont go well monday longer term outlook is
    looking good

knowing i can do the commute distance with some left in the tank gives me a good boost so im
bringing forward my test ride to sometime this week ... i'll probably do tues / thurs ride home
from work - gives me the nights to sleep it off and see how it goes

they'll think im nuts at work - i get a van to drive around in and once i start this properly
i'll be leaving that in the yard most nights and just using it if need to go out and about during
    the week

cant imagine it will take long to get this weight off once i start regularly doing over 120 miles
a week providing i can keep my food under control a bit whilst doing it

overall really looking forward to next spring as that'll roughly be the time i should shed all
this weight by and by then have pretty good road legs too - which is when i'll be on the lookout
for one of those nice road/audaxy type bikes that speed me along on my commute

120 miles a week. Yup, the weight will fall off. Just remember that fat burns at a lower heart rate
than max...Max burns carbs and saves the fat for later. Work at 65%, rather than 85% (apparently)
Also, 120 miles a week. You shouldn't need to worry too much about what you eat, as long as it's
relatively healthy and after a short while, your appetite will come into line with needs rather than
wants ;-) Well done, keep it up, Cheers, Dave.

Heh - no way - I've only got room for one smallish bottle on my bike, so a bag in my rucsack is the
only way for me to go - bear in mind we'll be in the middle of nowhere so stopping foten and topping
up from shop/garage/café won't be an option.

Y'know, sometimes we need those weeks, the guilty feeling afterwards pushes towards the next few
weeks of being good. You may find that even being bad, you remain the same due to the exercise.

Well it certainly sounds like you have the determination to do it!

the GF said if i can manage to get the weight off with this regular commute thing then she'll let
me! buy me whatever bike i want for next spring

    so, bring it on

a good incentive for sure ... saves me trying to talk her round when the time comes!

  6. Similar area, but just exploring some new roads really - Gt Missenden - Chesham - Tring
-Aylesbury - Thame - Phoenix trail to Longwick, then home (to Kingshill) via Chequers 52 miles in
