    After posting in a thread about bent cranks, I just wondered
    at what stage of bentness do you change your cranks? I'm
    talking more cotterless cranks btw!

    This is my Muni at the moment: bent cranks and pedals,

    It might look like it needs new cranks, but it is still
    ridable, and I dont have any money

    It may feel odd at first, but after a while, you do get used
    to your foot moving around oddly on a bent crank/pedal. I
    did an (almost) 20 mile ride last weekend with my muni in
    that state, and didnt really mind having bent cranks.

    So, I was just wondering when do you change your cranks if
    they bend?

    I think I might get some new cranks and pedals for the
    summer, after I buy the BC wheel, new pedals for my
    freestyle, paid my mum back for the MP3 player (which
    still doesnt work) and bought Derek a pint in exchange for
    his tyre! :p

    this is my trials but not for much longer! as i ordered my
    wheel set 2 night!the best pic i could find to show how bent
    they are is a gliding one

    Ben, you sure you are not just showing everyone your new trick! :p

    I cant make out if they are bent or not!

    Also I would just like to add to my question. How many
    people ride with a bent hub? Mark Roberts has a standard
    hub, and bent it doing trials. It was mad! Both the pedals
    were in the same half of the wheel...

    That is a bent hub to me Ben, I ride with a bent hub
    since Roger pointed it out and tried to straight it by
    hopping on it :P I would replace those cranks on the 26"
    it might not feel to bad now but wait till you put
    straight cranks on it 😉

    ride it until you can afford splined hub and cranks, then
    get new square tapers and sell it. that's what i did. j

    Replace them when you can't stand them anymore. If you are a
    fast rider, you may notice your feet not sticking very well
    anymore. Also I don't know if there are any long term
    effects of having your foot move in a bent-crank type of
    circle. Probably not much to speak of.

    You can also try unbending your cranks. The cheap way of
    doing this is to hop real hard, concentrating on the bent
    area. But this will stress your axle and other crank as
    well, so use caution. A better way is to take it off the
    uni, attach it to something else (a junk axle), and bend it
    with large tools. My 45" big wheel still has its original
    (cottered) cranks on it. They get bent inward if the cycle
    gets dropped. So every once in a while I'd take them off,
    and basically beat on them with a sledge hammer to
    straighten them out. Don't try this on yours... 🙂

    Bent hub? Most hubs, if they bend, it means they're about to
    break. Be prepared!
