I have been on a low carb diet for a year now. I lost 50+ pounds in the first 4-5 months and have been just maintaining for the rest of the time. In March I will have been participating in a circuit training class at a local recreation center. That is cardio and resistance weight machines alternating for a hour. Recently I have added Dance Dance Revolution to my work out schedule. I jogged/walked a 10K race last Memorial Day and play on doing it again this year. I have not felt this good in alot of years. I have a very sedentary job that really helped put on the pounds in the last 9 years........I am very happy to be feeling great.
Hi Carol, welcome to the group! Congrats on your 50+ loss!

Have you all seen those Dance Dance Revolution machines that are in arcades or bowling alleys, etc? My husband and I love to play them. We have a few times, even though we're terrible at it, it's a lot of fun. Well, I found a home version of it, and now have a dance pad that plugs into my tv
Hmmm. My kids have one of these - I must dig it out and give it a go.

Luna. Here is a webpage that has a video of someone dancing to some music. It seems similar to a karaoke machine. It shows v ^ < > on the screen and you use your feet as you watch the scrolling symbols. I have never heard of this before. As I was trying to find some info on the net, my 8 year old daughter immediately came to the computer to see what was going on. She's got to have one now. I can see how it would be fun. The link to the demo is about 1/3 way down the page. The first half of the video shows set-up procedures of the components. The last 1/2 shows a person doing it. I know you asked about the TV version, but this is interesting to see how it is done. http://www.redoctane.com/ignitionpad.html

Ok, that sounds like so much fun! Details please! What is the name of this cheap knockoff you got, how cheap is it, where'd you get it? You say you just plug it into your tv . . . so you don't need anything else? I don't have a Playstation or anything like that.
Thanks, but I'm on dial-up, so I won't be viewing any videos online anytime soon. Also, I have actually seen people do this before, at an arcade, and I knew there were home versions for Playstation but I didn't know you could get a home version without a gaming console.

Haha. I must be the only one left in the world that hadn't heard of it before. Serves me right for buying a karaoke machine. They were dumping them without telling me of the new technology coming up which will make karaoke obsolete. : (

Ours just plugs into a SCART socket on the TV, and cost about £10 from Toys-R-Us.
I must get round to finding whose bed it's stashed under...

will it also teach you to dance?
-- Diane
I don't think there's a game, or a teacher for that matter, who could teach my uncoordinated self to dance, but this sounds like fun anyway.
Off to EBay to price check this thing for my PS2!

I think you can play any game you want with the pad controller, right? (on PS2) but which games are best for working up a sweat? Do they make work-out games? I looked on Walmart.com and found a few of the Dance Dance Revolution kind of games, but I'm wondering if there are different kinds... the DDR games seem to be suited more toward teens. This sounds fun, but I don't want to dance to Brittany Spears or someone equally annoying. :o)

Most of the DDR games I've seen have songs that nobody has heard.
Although, my knock-off game with very poor sound quality (where many songs sound very similar because of the awful sound) has many songs I've heard of... like Michael Jackson's "Beat It" My Heart Will Go On (annoying Titanic song), I need a HERO, Follow the Sun, Over the Rainbow, etc.
