As the great elzinator used to teach in her clases, any aerobic exercise
that involves sitting down is far inferior to one where you stand and do
    something.

What do you think you are doing on a rower, idiot? Last time I checked,
    you
row by sitting on your ass.

    Quoted message said:

If you think great things are going to be accomplished while sitting on
your ass, go for it. Lots of lazy, ignorant people will agree with you.

Stick to woodworking, Lee. You know [censored] about exercise.

    Quoted message said:

And the above David, who you seem to think is a good source of
information, sells the [censored] he is reccomending to you.

Not true. I don't sell anything.

    He is also a troll.

And you are also a moron

What a waste of space he really is. He's got it in his mind that he
has to be hostile to a few people, because somebody else told him that
    they were the bad guys.

I think that sums up what a silly old fool Mr Michaels is.

Further to your observations, I would say that Lee and one or two of his
moronic friends are the main reasons why newcomers seeking advice then go
away shaking their heads about how 'lucky' they were to have landed here.
Notice how many comment on what a bickering bunch of old women we are in

Yes but sorry to say that prices in the USA are higher than I thought - you
probably would have to pay around $500 or $550 for a decent bike - good
choice would be Vision - www. visionftiness.com - the R2000 is a nice
bike and is electromagnet resistance. Schwinn also a good brand but I think
you are looking at mid sixes to buy.

  4. Have u tried buying a second hand racing bike with quick rlease wheels
and then just putting your front forks on a solid object, for example
Hansons twattified head or stone bollocks that aint seen use since
    Pearl Harbour.

Are you guys aware that there's a newsgroup called

    Quoted message said:
    Quoted message said:

What, you want to run off people talking about fitness?

    Quoted message said:

Oh, stop your [censored]. There's a reason that misc.fitness split into
MFW and MFA ten years ago. Asking these questions here is like asking
the MFA cardio bunnies about serious weight training. The trick is to
ask the right questions in the right place.

    Quoted message said:

That said, I've been reading this thread since the beginning.

So, you search for a topic that annoys you, and then read
it from start to finish. Do you do that just to have something
to [censored] and whine about, or do you have your own "special" reason?

The Concept II is JUST as huge, JUST as expensive and pales in
comparison to just going out and buying a kayak. (Which is what I've
actually done instead of buying more crappy indoor cardio equipment.)

The water around here is a bit hard for a kayak, just now.

And there are enough Concept II users that it *is* a competitive sport if
    you want it to be.

a bit of everything really..... good cardio workout,

  13. Well, I have not tried a recumbert exercise bike but I would expect
that you can get a good cardio work out on either the bike or a rower.
The rowing machine takes a little more practice because the form takes
little while to perfect. There is cordination that is needed to row
properly. The rower will use more muscles than the bike because it
    also uses upper body.

I have worked with stair climbers, treadmills and stationary bikes and
I prefer the rowing machine, but that is just me. My chiropractor
wanted me to stay away from stair climbers because they twist the
    spine.

    BD

  14. Not true smuckmeister. It is possible to exceed the capabilities of
some exercise machines. I could get to max level on a stair climber
and that is all the machine could deliver, but I wanted more. On a
concept II the harder you pull the more resistance you get. I can not
exceed the capabilities of my rower.

There sure are a lot of arrogant morons cruising these forums.
