I come here to read about bicycles hanging from spokes, chain stretch,
threadlock on spoke nipples and the benefits of wearing a helmet. If I
wanted to read the political blather of the self-important ideologues,
I could choose a thousand other outlets for the sewerage that passes
for war commentary.
I am sure
that you don't open every single topic and read every single message,
yet, you are going to great troubles to insult Jobst.
Both of those things are quite true...
Quoted message said:I personally welcome regular participants to, once in a while, start
"side threads" about topics that may be of interest to some of us.
If they are of interest to "some" of you, and they aren't related to
the newsgroup, then why isn't an e-mail list used? Or even a link to a
post in some other newsgroup?
The logic of this little bit baffles.
Quoted message said:Manytimes, those topics don't interest me, nor do I agree with their
opinions. Yet, I don't decide that I have to insult the posters to
prove my point. Your insults do not enhance your perspective in any
way.
That's exactly correct! You have perceieved the exercise correctly.
Indeed, the ire you might feel at the name-calling is EXACTLY THE SAME
as the ire I feel at having to read this blather outside of a political
newsgroup.
Quoted message said:In fact, many participants that disagree with Jobst's ideology
will probably think that there is something wrong with you.
It was an exercise to arouse ire. And it succeeded, in spades. In
fact, I could do it at will.
Anything to stop the endless droning of the cowards on the left who
won't stand up and fight, and the morons on the right who think that's
the only solution.
Quoted message said:Anyways, Jobst, I hope that you keep it comming. I wish that you would
continue posting messages from that website that you used to post from
before the election.
Yes, by all means, ignore the charter of the newsgroup, and pollute it
with nonsensical ramblings that have all been spoken before, by people
who know much more about the subject. But hey, mention motorcycle
helmets in this newsgroup, and all the weight of the "off-topic"
shouters comes to bear.
So, if you were annoyed or dismayed by my response to Jobst's posts,
then you have felt exactly the way I feel about Jobst's
partially-educated dribblings on a topic about which he has a very
superficial understanding.
