A slow cooker or a crockpot both are very handy tools. Seems that the
main difference between them where I live is that a slow cooker is like
a hot plate with a removable pot and a crockpot has a metal shell/case
with heating coils and a removable crock. I've never had a slow cooker
but really enjoy crockpots. At present I have a 11 qt. model with a
built in timer but I find that the automatic built in timer isn't as
handy as using a separate appliance timer. Live and learn.
On Average I use my crockpot about once every 2 weeks. I cook a lot of
stuff in my crockpot. Mostly pork cottage rolls, various homemade
soups, stews and chillis. But on ocassion I've made cheater's
spareribs, pot roasts, briskets, braised chicken parts, Barb's
caramelized onions, spaghetti sauce and Nancy's dreaded grape jelly
meatballs.
A handy tip is if cooking something messy that will be hard to clean up
after like say swedish meatballs, is to use one of those plastic oven
roasting bags to line the crock prior to use and just chuck the bag
after use.
Another tip learned from Sheryl a long time poster...use veggies like
carrots or celery to support things like whole chickens. This raft
keeps the bird elevated and out of it's own cooking juices for a better
taste and texture to the meat. The raft also supplies some flavoring
for the gravy or sauce.
I live alone but mostly use the largish crockpot to cook up items to
stock the freezer for quick lunches or suppers mostly. Things like
soups, stews or large cheap cuts of meat. Others find the long cooking
time allows a meal to be cooked while they are away at work etc...

It's not a question of where he grips it!
It's a simple question of weight ratios!
A five ounce bird could not carry a one pound coconut.
Are you suggesting coconuts migrate?
