Sleeved, non-machined double walled , eyelets and sockets and cheap
cheap cheap.
I bought two of these from http://www.bicyclemagic.com/products.php?plid=m6b115s171p2607
on Friday. 20 quid vs 34 for a Mavic Open Pro silver.
Sockets appear to be zinc passivated and the eyelets 'shiny
plated' (nickel? stainless maybe? are sockets and eyelets 2-pieces?)
Seem pretty lightly silver anodized: doesn't take much pressure on my
multimeter probes to break through (I can't break it on a red-anodized
Mavic CXP 33, or a Rigida black rim, by way of comparrison). Which
reminds me Mr. Brandt: what were your conclusions on tyre blow-off?
The brake tracks are not parallel: tapers from 20.5mm on the inner
side to 20mm. The 'clinch' appears pretty substantial they measure
13.2 across the dimension that the ARAYA below measures 14.2.
Weight about 510g on my kitchen scales, which is reasonably hefty I
guess, but I suppose they might support pretty high tensions.
Tempted to take the polishing wheel to the inside surface to make them
all pretty, but I don't want to remove the plating from the eyelets
(if they're plated)
Don't know if or where the ARAYA rim is available.
