TV station claims Piepoli tested positive on Hautacam

Yes he will. The alternatives are not worth considering for him. Unless he is threatened with jail time, that is the only thing that could make him change his mind.
He is under that threat. Ti say ******** to reporter, fans and to justice is not the same.
I heard our justice ministery who preconised a hard line. Not good for the riders caught.

Here is the news brief:

I see no other reason for them to sack Piepoli other than that they are 99% sure he's gonna fail a test and just want to make themselves look good. They should have tested the whole team at the border or before they left the TdF. Is that the reason why the whole team withdrew: they were afraid the officials would test the whole team on the next stage?

...damnit! I knew that "friend" with the shell necklace, deep tan, and 2% body fat was more than just a quilting companion!

I seriously doubt the doping athlete market affects their bottom line, compared to the medical anemia/cancer patient market. I read in another thread (maybe it was DP) that Amgen was approached by WADA about using such a marker, but they refused.
Yeah, you're probably right. However it would cost them time, effort and at least some money to implement so why bother?

Forget cyclists, top footballers in Europe get paid astonomical sums of money and some of them have got to be at it. Why augment the black market? They might as well buy our unmarked stuff.

Meanwhile back at the point - all that camerarderie between Ricco and Piepoli now looks a bit sinister. It's certainly easy to make it look that way on tv.

But I'm still missing the point because everyone else seems to be getting laid.

Correct. But let us see what his lawyers recommend. If I understand correctly the testing for CERA has yet to be 'certified' and therefore could be subject to a strong legal defense. And I am sure Ricco' has enough money in the bank to hire a pretty good French lawyer...

I don't think this is news today, apart from his team sacking him, it was so obvious the guy was on gas, in fact his performance was so good I think he took all the stash that was for the rest of the team, for himself :D, he will be dancin in his underwear in the middle of the night for a couple of weeks I reckon :D the tests will be in, in the next couple of days.

Well... Saunier-Duvall might be making last ditch attempts to save themselves... but it is fairly certain that they will never sponsor a team that is ever invited to the Tour de France again... or any other ASO race probably... so their basically stuffed IMO.
