everyones different! I am a mental rider. Ive done races that would kill a person with very good physical fitness, just because of there mental state was not there!

You can read a book and know everything about something, but to experince something is totally different! - this is not pointed at you this is pointed at the statement below:

Even sports psychologists will tell you, that in (endurance) cycling far more depends on your physical fitness than your mental state.

>>How? I understand that if someone isn't interested in a race and they switch off, they'll get dropped. The point i'm alluding to is that no matter how much you want to suffer (and i've done plenty of this in races), if you don't have the fitness the mental ability won't make up for it.

As much as this sounds like a good idea, in practice it doesn't happen to any great degree. If someone is exercising at a very high workload (e.g., VO2 max), you can encourage them to do a tiny bit more work (usually just a handful of seconds) -- but this won't really overcome any weakness or get them through a race (because they'll be blown out unless the pace eases dramatically).
