is there a difference in materials between a motorcycle and bike (other than it
has a motor)?

What do I have to do to the bike if I get caught in the rain?
Has anyone tried to use auto wax on their frame (its supposed to help resist
water...)

Other than the motor, motorcycle tires have a hugh contact point with the road compared to bicycle tires and most motorcycles have fenders. While many people ride bicycles in the rain, too, the two main problems are loss of traction and the wet, dirty strik up the center of the back from the water and road dirt spraying off the rear wheel.

The only thing to do to your bike after riding in the rain is to dry it off and be sure that there is no water inside the frame. Especially with a steel bike, if there is any doubt as to whether there could be water inside of the frame, it would be a good idea to remove the saddle and turn the frame so that any water can drain out of the seat tube. Also, wipe off the chain and re-lubricate as necessary. If you have a leather saddle, protect it from water. A treatment with neatsfoot oil might be a good idea if a leather saddle got soaked.

Many that ride in rain will have "Rain Bikes". Some will put 700x25 or even 28's commuter tire which will handle rain much better, covered or capped water bottles, baggies over the seat and deffenatly fenders over the wheels.

Yes, you can use spray on car wax for your bike all four seasons.

It is raining pretty steady here right now.... The forecast says rain through the night and then it tapers off for a while in the afternoon... god I hope so cause I havent ridden since Monday.

It looked threatening yesterday, so instead of riding I thought I would go for a quick run, just to get some excercise in... well I have not run in years...and I am talking like 10 or 11 years and boy do my legs kill me right now.

Rain, yeah it kind of puts a damper on things like riding a bike. Its only good for staying home and chilling out. I like the sound of it when it rains. Very relaxing makes me smile even though there's not much to do in it.

A little rain never hurt anyone! Get out there and ride.

Rain doesn't really stop me, only if it's windy as all hell as well then that does kinda put a negative tint on things. Riding in the rain though is pretty damn fun.

Yes! this rain will not let me go out at all! My girlfriend absolutely loves the rain. However, I only like it when it rains at night because it does not disturb my daily activities. When it rains during the day or evening, I can't even go out because the road is extremely wet! Well, at least it is good for the plants lol!

I love that whenever it rains here it doesn't go on for very long at all. It always eases up after a few minutes. 😄

Fortunately, thunder showers have been few and far in-between so far. Therefore, I've been able to enjoy a bit of cycling over the past few months without having to deal with nasty weather and rain. But those thunder showers will be coming, they are simply unavoidable. November is around the corner and I expect a rapid increase. So I'll try get out and about as much as I can over the next week or two.
