Nah, those are issues more for Oprah to take up than Phil & Paul. Doping
and LA Confidential were covered more than I cared to hear about. I wanted
to hear about the race, and that's what was delivered. Perfect.

He did elaborate a little more - Lance said he never called him a liar, just
that he wasn't telling the truth. Lance thinks there is a distinction there.
He mentioned that Simeoni was an acknowledged doper, but when he won a stage
of the Vuelta, he got off his bike, walked across the line and then made a
big deal of saying that he was the only clean rider in the peloton. Lance
felt this implied that he and everyone else was doping. Lance said he had a
history of insulting the riders and the sport as evidenced by his attack at
kilometer 0 of the last stage. If what Lance says is true, it really sounds
like Simeoni is an ass.

I have to agree, I also heard that part of the interview. What was the deal
when Lance said he broke away with Simeoni, then came back to the Peloton
and apologized to key riders for doing so. He also mentioned the peloton
got on Simeoni's case after the incident?
I'll have to watch the interview a 2nd time to digest it all.

The question on doping was asked and answered. Nothing more to be said. It
was an interview, not a court room.

My guess is that lance will race TDF next year. He will also do others and
how he fares through those might be the determining factor for the TDF. It
will have a great deal to do with the sponsors wish.

It was due to lighting. When he turned his head slightly, the
impression of where his hair was/wasn't seemed to shift, corresponding
to the shadow effect on the right side of his head (left as we viewed
it). Probably due in part to the fact that his hair is so short that
were the light shown directly on it, you could see thru to the scalp,
but not in the shadowed area.

I agree -- it was a good, valuable two hours. Not much insight except
whether he does the Tour on '05 or '06. He never mentioned the
Vuelta, only
the Giro as a near term likelihood. I think the only teammate he did
not mention was "Triki" Beltran.

LeMond was not brought up either.
Lance doesn't need to be grilled on doping and we all know what's
going on with Simeoni. (Phil mispronounced it "Simoni" in fact)

Lance was saying that he didn't "Chase down Simeoni", he followed his
attack. Once they caught the break, T-Mobile had to start working to make
sure Lance didn't stay away. The stage was supposed to be a "rest day" for
the GC contenders and Lance appologized for making the T-Mobile team work.
It seems that Simeoni has few supporters in the peloton, even among the
Italians.

I'd buy this, were it not for the fact that nobody budged when Armstrong
broke away. Not one of the contending teams did anything until he was out
of sight. Why?

Yeah, heck of a race and certainly drew crowds and applause at the
