  1. But it is supposed to make it itself.
The blood cholesterol molecule is to big to pass
the blood brain barrier. So the glial cells make
    the cholesterol in the brain.

The article can be found at:

    No kidding, and so what?

  3. So, I guess one should make sure the diet contains the precursors to
    cholesterol.

  4. Right on cubit.

I would want to explore that.
Saturated fat is the precursor to cholesterol in
the blood. I supose that is true for the brain as
    well.

    Anybody want to correct me?

    yes, I do.
the precursor to cholesterol is (2 units) acetyl-coenzyme A, not "saturated
    fat".
AcCoA originates out of ANY kind of fat ("beta-oxidation"😉 and out of
    glucose ("krebs cycle"😉.

I seriously doubt there is cholesterol deficiency in a healthy human being
    living in an industrialized country.

He is thinking about the fact that saturated fat "elevates" cholesterol
    levels in the blood.
And the research I saw showed that was only true for chain lengths shorter
than palmitic. Stearic and longer had no effect. Although, there had not
been a lot of good research into this (last I looked several years ago).
Maybe something new has come along.

What these clowns are trying to do is suggest that all SFAs are good
for you because the brain needs them to make cholesterol.

Sorry, but they are still a bunch of idiots in my book.

In the real world, the devil is in the details. SFAs can be broken into
many different sub categories. Unless you want to live off of coconut
oil, you really don't have too many options when it comes to SFAs.

When will these clowns start talking about "free range" beef?

    COMMENT:

CORRECT. The dietary precursor to cholesterol is either fat,
carbohydrate or protein. 🙂 Which is to say, calories. This means the
only people with really low cholesterols in their blood are slowly
starving to death, like some people with cancer, or some of the rural
Chinese with cholesterols of 90 in the China Study. Who had a very much
    higher infection death rate--- surprise..

That's true and people starving think they are doing a great job with their
cholesterol reduction. They ignore the fact that essential nutrients are
being denied and not just cholesterol is being impacted.

  10. Where does the AcCoA come from then MU?

He said from fat or glucose. And I add that either one of these can be
made from protein. So basically, the answer is: from calories. As I
    said.

  12. Thankyou. I must have overlooked
    what he said.

    Calories?
    That is good to know.

Well, considering details... Coconut oil will raise your TC level high
as it is composed mainly from short chain SFAs.
