Should that have had the word "Spoiler" in the subject line
    somewhere?

Well, I suspect that you shouldn't read the message if it has
TdF: in it. It's bound to be a spoiler of sorts. I brought this
subject up prior to the race. I first saaid 'Spoiler:', then
realised it'd be easier to say 'TdF:' .. if you haven't watched
it, don't join in the threads.

    OK then.

Was it misfortune or a mistake? I bet if the situation was reversed and
LA fell it would have been described as a mistake, it happens to someone
else and LA profits from it and it is called misfortune. Seems everyone
    hates a winner!

Did I say I hate LA? Err... no.

I was a general remark not addressed specifically to you, perhaps I'll
change "everyone hates" to "some people hate". I presume that you don't
disagree with the preceeding statement regarding mistakes and misfortune
since you didn't comment on that?

However the fall was described as a "misfortune" by you, rather than a
mistake - which seems to me like the implied meaning is that he was just
plain unlucky he fell and there was nothing he or his team could have done
to prevent it? This does not seem to be the case to me, the mistake was
avoidable, however that may have meant not taking so many risks and ending
up with a slower time. They took the risks, made a mistake; LA also took the
risks and he and his team didn't make the same mistake, which resulted in LA
    wearing the jersey.

LA had the misfortune (or was it a mistake) of coming unclipped, how much
time did that cost him? 0s, 0.5s, 1s, 2s, etc? Would he have won if this
didn't happen? Had the fall not happened would he still be in yellow? No one
can say for sure, its all part of the race I guess. The guy can only ride
his race, and when he does it faultlessly and others don't he still doesn't
get blasted for it because "it's a win, but not in the same way". As long as
he didn't cheat it seems to me a win is a win, is a win.

Lets hope today's stage provides a less debated result!

There you go makes basic mistakes again.

Now you are presuming I made a basic mistake. Are you sure I have made a
"mistake" and its not that I have the "misfortune" of not having your
superior intelligence? I guess you're not going to answer the original
question so I'm going to go on presuming. Time to move on me thinks....
