Catching flu has feck all to do with excersise or temperature. It's a
virus innit! You get infected by breathing it in when somebody with it
breathes out in your vicinity.

though that's a bit accademivc now ,still you can't catch it twice.
It's free if you are at risk but anybody can pay to get one, or at
least they could until about 50% of the 'lu vacine stock was withdrawn
because of fears of contamination.

If you have specialist knowledge of geriatric patients please skip to
final paragraph. ;-)
I know all that, which is why I keep fit (for my age) by walking
regularly to build resistance to illness. However, I do know that
when I over-exert myself, eg - if I do a walk which requires me to
extend myself too far, I am 'wrecked' for at least two days afterwards.
An example was a recent 6 miler which became 10 due to a pub visit/nav
error, and on a very hot day.
Similarly, if I do two energetic walks on consecutive days I have the
same unpleasant experience.
In this fragile state I know that I am more vulnerable to viruses, 'Flu
or whatever. Regarding the vaccination, I was persuaded by my doctor
to have one, and 4 days later I had all the symptoms of 'Flu, banging
headache, limbs aching, shivering/sweating, phlegmatic cough, wanting to
go to bed alone in the afternoon........
I also had a jab last year, in November, with no reaction whatsoever,
this year's produced a hard lump and made my arm painful to raise to the
horizontal or higher. Oddly - my lady friend had the same experience
this year, so maybe we got the Chiron batch?
It is not true that 50% of has been withdrawn, that was 50% of the
American supply, from Chiron in Liverpool, there was no problem for me
or my peers, except for the queues in some surgeries. I was in and out
in a couple of minutes. The NHS wisely uses six sources....
[1] Or perhaps when it is injected into your body? ;-)
