suggestions for walks from Rosthwaite (Borrowdale)

Plenty of scope in the area. Some that you can do straight from the hotel
include Greenup Edge - which takes you up onto Sergeant Man and towards the
Langdale Pikes. You might also look at Langstrathdale - the longest
uninhabited valley in the Lakes. It has a dramatic headwall leading up to
Angle Tarn etc. Also from Langstrathdale you can walk up Stake Pass towards
the top of Mickleden. It's worth having a look at the Wainwright book(s) for
the area.

1) Over the Bowdergate to Watendlath
2) Up Langstrathdale.
3) Across the river, and then the bridleway south to Grange, passing
Castle Crag (the lowest Wainright, IIRC).
4) routes on Grange Fell (King Edward's How?)

Hi Mike,

I have a couple of walks on my website, Lake District section, from that
part of Borrowdale. Some are high, while a couple are relatively low level.
There is a multitude of choices if you want to drive a couple of miles from
Rosthwaite.

Good conditions, got everybody up to Styhead and Sprinkling Tarn, though the
path down the side of Ruddy Gill / Grains Gill was very icy, and nearly
everbody was fit enough for a variety of short walks on the Sunday morning
