cranks in stock? I found them on a french website, but want to avoid the shipping/import tax
roullette game if at all possible.
Paul Kopit said:Last year when I wanted the Granfundo crankset, I was told by there USA agent, whose name I've
forgotten, that they had no intention of importing 110 bolt pattern cranksets. I bought my set
from a French, online, retail company.
That's true. But if he's set on a Stronglight product, I can still arrange most popular size rings
on their compact 94/58 series cranks.
94/58 rings are not as plentiful as 110/74 but still pretty well supported by several ring makers.
If he's more motivated by 110/74, there's no shortage of Sugino cranks at 1/3 the price.
_ The Stronglight impact compact is a single 110 crank that comes in 165mm ( or at least that's what
it looks like from the web page ). Will the Sugino's work well with a Campy bottom bracket? I'm
considering restoring my old Mirella touring frame[1] and I think a 48/34 with a high/wide freewheel
would work pretty well.
_ Plus the Sugino cranks are just ugly... I want to see all five arms of the spider. %-) By the time
you get the chainrings you want I'm not sure the Sugino is that much cheaper.
_ So if you know where to get a crankset with 110 BCD, 165mm length, works well with a 30 year old
Campy bottom bracket and doesn't look ugly... ? So far the only alternative I've found is the TA
Zephyer, but that's a bit pricy. I'll spend $50 for looks, but not $150.
