Actually it is Kraft Carb Free Ranch that I have been using this past week

Cut the snack to lower calories.

I can cut it but 12:00 until 5:00 is a long period of time with no food

How can you say you are following Atkins to the T when you apparently
don't know what it says. Do you have book and have you actually read it?

    Rich

I'm doing it from memory, how I lived for four months on it last time. I'm
following it to a T except not as much high fat, my doctor said I need to
    watch my fat intake

You need to eat fat to burn fat, what you seem to be doing is a high protein
    diet.

Kevin, can you provide an online link so I can read about the diet and what
to eat without me having to run out and buy the book?

    Here's the link: http://www.gidiet.com/

There's not a whole lot of info, as their goal is to get you to buy
the book. Still, it will give you an idea about the plan.

There are a lot of other GI sites out there, just do a search for
    glycemic index. Good luck.

noticeably absent is exercise. I have been on maintenance for over a year
now and I have lost 5 pounds this summer just from exercise. And, I don't
mean "walking every once in a while"....

    Pat in TX

my problem with exercise is that I have very bad knee pain. While I can
walk with no problem, I have exercise tapes ranging from step to aerobics,
my knees cant take it and jumping or bending at all. I feel limited to how
    I can burn calories

Walk as much as you can. As you lose weight, your knees will feel
better, as will every other part of you. Even if you can just walk a
bit, do it. Just don't blow your potential progress by eating more.

You might try muscle-building exercises, such as bands.

Do you have a scale to weigh your potions? Do you have the various spoons

:> Eat less protein... so less meat? but more fat... what type of fat?

Use fitday.com to track your intake...it will tell you the precentages of
foods by fat, protein, and carb. Fiddle with your foods until you get for
fat up to around 75% or more.

Avoid transfat, but don't worry about the type of fat beyond that.
Remember, since you are on low carb, the fat in your diet won't hurt
you...it will get burned off. Fat is only a problem in the presense of
excessive carbs, which isn't going to be a problem for anyone on a low carb
    plan....

You need to reread the book.

Also, the fact that you quit Atkins the first time is a bad sign, as it
implies that you didn't get the point about what Atkins is all about....it's
not a diet that you quit...you work through the phases if you plan to follow
it. If you revert back to being a HCer, then you'll regain every bit of
    your weight.

The fact that you have serious problem with exercise and controling your
weight means that you really need to consider adopting a low carb lifestyle
for the remainder of your life. That may be hard for you to accept with so
many telling you that fat is bad for you. Saidly, for the most part, that is
    a damn lie.
