very exciting steel, built for 27 inch as opposed to 700C wheel.
complete with (I think) shonky chainset, a probably handlebars.Tim just dropped this off (annoyingly, just as work grabbed me for
something that was resolved five minutes later, so I had to sort of rush
out and rush back in again). Thanks.
And now to what to do next.
My fixer came about the same way - a friend was having a clearout and
left it on his front step for me.
I bought a screw on sprocket from my LBS, unscrewed the freeewheel and
screwed the sprocket on. Jiggling the chain line was done by using a
cup'n'cone BB, with an assymetric axle, and a BB lockring as a spacer
for the sprocket. I think I got the wheel re dished after that. The
front wheel was free from the LBS in his junk box.
Once I was happy with the set up, I cleaned it a bit and spray painted
the wort of the scrappy bits on the frame. Then I did a 100k audax on
it.
A month or two later I stripped it down and got it resprayed (red, cos
red bikes are faster, as eny fule no), then got a new headset
(Stronglight A9, YKIMS) and re-built it.
That was n thousand kilometres ago.

Is Frank Coopers an acceptable substitute for Marmite, when it's done?
The jury's still out. What about Soreen?

I understand very little of what's being discussed
but for some reason it's fascinating.
