I have been reading this same tripe for years on various forums. Your diatribe has not changed in years and the only thing anyone can be sure of from you other than your inability to understand the common sense if individualistic physiology is the utter absence of verifiable data to back up your ideas.

Common sense dictates that what works for one person may not work for another. It also says that various causes of back pain do not have a single cure/remedy even towards teh specific end of enabling one's ability to cycle.

Come on, man. Either put up or shut up. It's about time you backed up your rants with something more than more rants.

That is exactly what I intend to do.

Rob what do you think of rotor cranks ?

You appear very confident in considering all my claims as just
fit for the trash can, would you be prepared to stake $1000
on whether or not they are true ?

When are you letting the Wattage list know? which two researchers are you using? where will the study be conducted? when are you expecting to start it?

Instead of causing back pain and injury Anquetil's method
improves it, his video has the proof.
If Mc Gregor was to return to the track tomorrow, using
Anquetil's technique, she would be track pursuit champion and
free from all lower back pain . I can guarantee that.

Thought McGregor and Boardman quit due to 'old age' rather than being forced out by some back injury. Didn't realise that Boardman had a back injury. As for McGregor, her back injury was sustained prior to cycling and was the reason for taking cycling up.

I'm sure that she would love to hear about the claims you make, so that she is able to get back to World Champ and no doubt break world records!

Again, we've heard it before. I'll not be holding my breath....

I never said your claims were fit for the trash can, I said you have no facts to back up your assertions. What annoys me is the absolute certainty you display about your ideas and the vehemence with which you argue for them without a single shred of evidence to back them up with. You can't just make claims and expect people to follow blindly. If you show me a study that backs up your claims I will look at it and consider the implications but until then you have no more credence than an eccentric proselytizer standing on a soapbox on a street corner.

I have no opinion of Rotor Cranks whatsoever as I have never used them nor have I seen anything other than a few anecdotal reports on them. When there is data, show me.

Stephan Roche was forced out by back pain and knee injury
both of which probably would not have occurred with this style.
Boardman has osteoporosis not caused by his pedaling but not
    helped either.
As for McGregor, lower back pain is caused by the continuous
strain on the lower back associated with round pedaling. An
injured or imperfect lower back can soon be aggravated by this
strain and the cumulative torture begins which for many can only
be ended by climbing off the bike. Anquetil's style hinges all
strain in the hips, not the lower back.

Noel, you surpass yourself. Unbelievable. There really is no sense taking a counterpoint to someone so adamant and unwilling to entertain opposing thoughts. I hope you enjoy it there in your own private little world.

Go back to sleep Rob, if everyone had behaved like you, we
would still be living in the STONE AGE. You would make an
ideal person for the U.C.I., those people who believe that
nothing should change, even if it means driving a rider to
    despair and almost death.

  10. noel,
just wondering when will the study/bet will be put on the wattage list?

You are so right, Noel, asking for a little verifiable evidence and data to back up what most see as fairly silly assertions is keeping us in the Stone Age? LOL! Funny, I seem to rememebr something from grammer school about the scientific method and I do believe that somewhere in there there was a mention of observing and gathering DATA. You can present no data when requested, what else is a reasonable person to think other than your idea currently holds as much scientific validity as does the Medievil assertion (they believed their idea, too, Noel!) that the Earth is truly flat?

Got any more of what you're smoking? It must be some hellaciously good stuff.....

First I have got to find the six worst victims of cycling related
lower back pain who have been forced out of the sport by it.
That letter should be in Cycling Weekly (if they publish) in a
week or two, I will e-mail it this weekend. As for the wattage
crew, I will also be seeking in the letter an interested medical
researcher who would be willing to verify the results. If that
search gets one from the UK, I will not need a wattage
volunteer, though I would like to get the ROTOR/ ANQUETIL
combination tested at the same time, I am confident that it
can directly eliminate the entire dead spot area.
Maybe Andrew Bradley (pedaling expert) would be interested.

I'm unaware of exactly who he is, or what research he's done. does he have access to force instrumented pedals?

Do a Yahoo search for " ankling" the first site will soon let you
    know what he has done.

No, but Noel obviously found a horce instrumented helmet one time and gave it a good test run.....

Correct me if I am wrong, Ric, but hasn't the highly esteemed (that means he uses real-world data to back up his statements) Doctor Andy Coggan referenced several studies that showed little to no benefit to "ankling" and that it, in fact, does little more than waste energy contracting and unecessary muscle? (this is from a dim memory so I freely admit I may be wrong on this)

Nobody is saying anything for or against ankling, in fact I
agree with Dr Coggan, ankling loses all its effect when cadence increases. I am just letting Ric know that A Bradley can do
pedaling animations. Dr Coggan admits to being a stomper and
is unlikely to change his views. Time will tell.
He is more interested in power measuring devices.
It amazes me why so much time is wasted on the accuracy of
these different systems while how pedal power is generated is
completely ignored, which is after all what cycling is all about.

  18. Crowley.....what are you on about?
Even if Anquetils pedalling was so good.....what about all the other very good Pros in the last 40 years......did they achieve greatness through pedalling that way?

    I think not!
