Red Rock Canyon...

It was hilarious! Garden Creek Gap, right? I was there and can vouch for the unplanned 10 min break during the race to let the cattle through. Need I mention dodging dung all over the roads for the next 3 laps? :D
Yep, you nailed it. I was going to mention the Tour d' ecoli aspect, nothing like looking down and seeing your watter bottles covered in cow dung or scraping it off your bike after the racce :)

No worries, I'll be back for more this year, it's a great race it'd just be better without the bovine hazards...

P.S. Are you thinking about Triple Valley SR? Seems like it might be my opener the way things are shaping up.

When I first saw the sign I looked to my left and right thinking it was like a deer crossing sign and there was cattle around. -js
That is hysterical.....

You NY'ers are really a protected species, you need to get out of Central Park and see the rest of the world. As they say 60 square miles surrounded by reality. ;-)

Here's a little video of what we went through. This is the Pro1/2 group. Notice the herd up the road.

I must say that the cowboys and cowgirl were pretty accommodating to us and handled the herds quite efficiently.

Yes, I'll likely do Triple Valley. I already bought a set of aero bars and I'm about to put them on. I think it's a bit too flat for my taste, but the short TT should be fun.

That doesn't even come close to the scene we encountered, there was nowhere to go and the cows were wall to wall, spooked and heading towards us. But I like the newspaper clipping in that blog. That's one of my team mates Ian Tuttle in the photo. He had a good season with an upgrade to the 2's and a 2nd place LOTOJA finish.

Yeah, the flat out and back RR isn't great but it's a good dose of early season racing to kick things off. BTW, I highly recommend the Gate City Grind, it uses some of the same roads from Garden Gap(not as much climbing unfortunately but still enough to split things up some) and has a good crit and TT.

Ian is a stud. I talked to him after the race. Nobody thought he'd hold out to the finish (at least 5 miles solo I think) and we almost had him at the top. At one point I pulled the pack pretty close (50-100 yds?), but no one pulled through and off he went again. I'm really looking forward to that race again this year. I hope they don't revert back to the old finish line on the flats though.

It may not be reality but it is my kind of reality. Home is where the heart is and I am born, raised and will probably call it quits here when my time comes here in NYC. NY Pride....

I got back on Friday and I have fallen pretty hard off my high....I have never had the opportunity to put in that much time and hours on my bike in a a very long time if ever. NYC ofcourse was still in the low 40s and below freezing before 9am so I did not want to loose all that CTL I built this week so got back on the trainer Saturday and today. It was hard as I am definitely feeling the fatigure but was able to get in 5 hours in the last couple of days and have not lost too much of my CTL from not riding Friday.

I have found that not taking a day off and putting in even just 45 minutes to an hour on what used to be off days with one 20 minute interval makes all the difference to keep my TSS above 700 week after week and get my CTL on a nice slope. I hope tomorrow I can see better 20 minute numbers as I did in Vegas...lets see how long it will take to get back into my groove.

Pretty soon will start the races again...I want to hit the races with my CTL in the mid 90s or higher...
