The judge agreed 100% with me and the prosecutor had nothing to say!
NOTHING!... No cross-examination! nothing!

If he decides to pick on me again...I just might laugh....i

So what was the argument? Was it that unicycles are not defined in the
law so cannot be lumped in with the bicycling laws? Or was it that
unicycles are not defined in the law so you cannot lump them in with
bicycle laws in one situation or skateboard laws in a different
situation just to suit the mood of the police officer?

I too have been harassed by Omaha police as well as campus security that
I cannot unicycle in public parks or on campus at Nebraska at Omaha.

When I was in NYC a few months back I found this article in Time Out New
York about the NY Unicycle Club.

The owner of the NYCUC fought and won a ticket he received for
unicycling on the city street.

In britain it seems we now have to abide by all the laws regarding
bicycles.

All the sites I have found before said that a unicycle was not mentioned
under the law, but according to the 'UUU,'
(http://www.unicycle.org.uk/thelaw.html) the law changed in 1994, and
now it is. Although I did persuade a policeman to leave me alone last
year by quoting the old law!

I suppose being regulated by the law is the price we have to pay for the
sport growing in popularity, but it would be nice if some of the laws
were a little more sensible

In my own experience, I have been threatened by security guards in a
mall because I was juggling. Being a generally non-confrontational
person, I acquiesced to their demands and left as soon as I could.

Not growing in popularity, per se, but having more and more people
ruining public things with pedal grabs, or falling in front of
pedestrians, etc... would be a much larger concern, I think

Congratulations Owen! I'm glad that it all turned out for the best. It
really was unfair.

Now, for a word of warning: They can't prosecute you for the things
mentioned. Yet. If you cause too many troubles and laugh at the
security guards, they can change the law to include unicycles. It
sounds like they are pretty uptight as they are, and I wouldn't do
anything to provoke them if you can help it, because they just might try
and change things specifically to include you. But as long as you keep
a low profile, you should be invicible for now.

This is SERIOUSLY getting out of hand!

ok, here's the deal: I'm out enjoying a beautifull sunshinny day on my
unicycle for the first time in weeks...boy, it's getting hot...maybe I
should grab a slush-puppy..so I did..Here I am riddin' infront of the
7eleven with my slush...the owner is standing next to me smoking a
cigarette, all is good...So I ride off to the park on the other side of
the road...I sit down, enjoying every sip of my slush, yup, life is
good.....

I get back up, I guess I'll find somewhere to ride.... BEEEEEP!....?
what's that?... BEEEEEEP! I turn around. I see a line up of not one, not
two but THREE public security vans! they all park their cars, get out
and kinda encircle me.

turns out they got a call from the 7 eleven sayin there was some
teenager messing around infront of his store...

What an A**-HOLE!!! He could've just TOLD ME!! F***ing hypocrite!

So yeah, I got off (again) with another warning but if I use my 20"
TRIALS unicycle for anything but getting from A to B they're gonna get
me for disturbing the peace, destroying public property (which I NEVER
did. I am NOT a vandal!) or simply change the by-laws to include
unicycles (which is clearly against my rights, you can't change laws
just to atttack a minority)

So yeah, I'm screwed...

The reason for not being allowed to climb trees is because they don't
want me to injure myself (how thoughtfull of them....a**-holes... ) and
then sue the city..

all this seems anti-democratic.... they're inventing laws to protect the
system and not the people's freedom...

Am I just being naive if I point out that they can threaten that, but to
actually charge you with anything they would have to prove it to a
sufficient standard. Not sure what though. It's 'beyond all reasonable
doubt' here but it's probably a bit different for different places. The
principal should still hold though.

Just so you don't feel bad Murde, i'm not sure that uni's are allowed
at cookie faces park either, cause it says no bikes, but I guess the
interpratation on thats up to the police.

I've been to the park in Denver, be carefull the police make regular
stops there I think, it's kinda fun to see all the kids scrambling for
helmets, but I don't think it's asking too much. I kinda wonder if maybe
we should see if unicycles would be allowed, and tell them that it's not
as dangerous as it looks, it would be cool to play around on that stuff.

Oh yeah, the one day I did have my uni there, back when I could ride it
pretty decent, but not well in stones. A couple of the skaters tried it,
that was cool.

anyways, I was gonna say something else I think, but I forget now.
