Yet many more innocent, non-violent Muslims are killed by the armed
forces of Israel and the United States, compared to those killed by
"Muslim" terrorists. And the actions of the former are driven primarily
by religious fundamentalism.

No, all the Iranian leadership is really trying to do is to protect
themselves from foreigners who wish to exploit them. Twenty-five (25)
years under the brutal despotic rule of Pahlavi regime (imposed by the
US, no less) who answered to foreign oil companies was enough.

Ed, I see that you remain an ignorant idiot. Perhaps you haven't
noticed that much of the Middle East practically is in the Stone Age
now. That would be part of the problem. Your stupidity also prevents
you from seeing that nuking the Middle East would result in your own

Which "former?" The Israelis, the United Statians or the Islamic
terrorists? All are currently driven by religious fundamentalism (read:
militancy) to a greater or lesser degree.

The armed forces of the two nations. The militant Zionists believe that
they have the right to take the land from the Nile to the Euphrates by
force, based on a collection of old texts written by MEN. The
fundamentalists in the US believe that they can bring on the Second
Coming by clearing Transjordan of Arabs (freeing the way for the
re-creation of the biblical Jewish state and Temple); and destroying
Iraq as a country will further that goal.

> All are currently driven by religious fundamentalism (read:

While there are a handful of religious nuts that actually believe the
nonsense (theologically and otherwise) spouted by a few radicals in the
Middle East, most of their support is actually from the desire to
prevent western interference. Support for bin Laden and his ilk is based
on the notion [1] that they are the only ones who will stand up to
western neo-imperialism.

[1] Though one must wonder at times if bin Laden and al Qaeda are
actually on the payroll of the covert services of a foreign government,
and not an independent NGO.

Actually, Muslims have condemned terrorists, but the don't have the
sort of heirarchical structure that funnels large amounts of money
to an organization that can run a loud, noisy PR campaign to get a
"message" out.

If you've ever been in an Islamic country (I have, but not in the
Middle East), you'll find that most people living their are quite
sensible. They may make an appearance at a mosque on Fridays, but
they go about their everyday lives the rest of the week, just as
most Christians go to church on Sunday and keep their religion more
or less confined to that hour of the week. But those are not the
ones you read about in the newspapers.

It has everything to do with respect. The Sudan has real problem
right now, but the completely over the top reaction you saw there is
fundamentally no different than a "drive by shooting" resulting from a
kid in an inner-city slum feeling "dissed" over trivia. People like
you are making the situation worse by figuratively throwing salt on a
wound.

I didn't exactly "lump" you two bozos together. I simply replied to post
that contained text from both of you, and both of you were off base,
Dolan being simply more idiotic.

And your opinion in fact is part of the problem - like Dolan, you fail
to have any appreciation about the real issues. Sure some clerics
in the Sudan completely overreacted, but they weren't upset about a
teacher letting her students name a teddy bear - they were upset about
what they consider as continual disrespect of their culture and beliefs.
They were so ****** off that when there was at worst a minor cultural
misunderstanding, they blew it all out of proportions and saw some sort
of international conspiracy. Your comment that about their "faith
must be pretty tenuous" was off base just as Dolan's is, and is in fact
contributing to the problem.

Sornson, I've always viewed you as being pretty much a complete fool,
and you've done nothing to change my opinion of you. And most of
these alleged "mistakes" are not mistakes at all - your idea of a
"mistake" is simply disagreeing with your inane views on bike lanes,
helmets, or whatever the f___ it is that you are mad about.

No, that is not what you said. You suggested that their "faith" was rather
weak, not that their "cause celbres" were petty. Maybe you should try to
remember what you post. But I doubt that you will.

No, it will be a much worse place for the rest of us, but few would be
left as the radioactive fallout due to "carpet bombing" would cover
at least one hemisphere.

That's why we should make sure these right-wing nuts have as little
influence as possible. They'll get us all killed if we let them have

Sorsnon lies though his teeath as usual - the post in question had
nothing snipped except maybe one or two blank lines. It is also
not "cowardly" to snip text you are not responding to. It is rather
a courtesy to readers, who don't have to wade through irrelevant text,
and encouraged by usenet posting conventions.

Sornson is apparently too stupid to know that.
