Lost 50 lbs., still got 70 to go to reach goal weight.
I'm more into weight loss, endurance and gaining strength.
Hypertrophy can come later if and when I survive beating this poor old
bod' into some decent shape! <lol>

Wow that's a success story! It's good to be able to take control and set
goals and actually see it happening. You've broken the back of it now . .
    .

    I hope so!
Been stalled for awhile now, but I ain't giving up!

Stalled is ok - Your goal weight seems low - you are around 6' from what I

Om, how long did it take to lose the first 50lbs?

    I started low carbing Jan. 4th 2005.

Lost most of it the first 6 months.

Are you just eating mainly plant carbs and protein?

Don't. There is no such thing as a stall, as you have the rest of your life
to get where you want to be. Enjoying the ride is half the challenge
(avoiding all the cliques is the other half ;-)

Nonsense. You had bad shoes, or a misalignment in your lower back.
There are no such thing as bad knees unless they're destroyed by

    I do have Arthritis...
The impact from running causes knee pain.

The stairmaster may put some strain on the knees, but it's lower impact
than running. I did my 30 minutes on it again today, this time with only
1 30 second break at about 10 minutes.

back BEGGING him to operate. That was 30 years ago, and running is the
only thing that keeps me walking.
It sounds like you've lost enough weight to run comfortably now. Hopw
    long since you tried?

    No, not lately.
I'm still pretty heavy so I'm not sure it'd be a good thing.
30 minutes on the stairmaster at level 4 still winds me pretty good.
Give me a month doing that first and I might try it. ;-)

Short of all that, if you do a minimum of an hour on the stairmaster,
you'll drop the rest of the weight. One hour of cardio is the point
where your body will burn more cals per hour, even while sleeping,
than a sedentary person. Any less only burns cals while you're on the
machine, but has no lasting effects once you get off it.
    I'm a 350lb slob, in a 183lb body, so I know what I'm talking about.
And congrats on your success so far.

    Thanks! :-)
It's tough, but I sure feel a helluva lot better.
It's not a diet this time either. I'm totally overhauling my lifestyle.
    Permanently.

I'd like to do an hour, I just have to try to find that extra 30 minutes
in my mornings. Don't think I've not considered doing just that.

    No. It's not.
The stairmaster is a smooth, steady motion. Low impact.
Running, you are slamming your bodyweight on the knee joints with every
stride! Running puts a lot more stress on the knees.

Ideally, I should use the eliptical trainer, but I really don't like
    them.

You must be fat as a frickin' pig Om. Why just run then? That's the
ultimate weight loss solution. I'm a 350lb slob, in a 183lb body, all
    due to running.

    Can't run.
    Bad knees.

    I wish... :-(

    I started out at 270.
    Down to 220 now.

That's purty damn good. Keep it up! You want to be 150#? How tall are you?

    5' 6". Medium frame.

That might be my current goal, but it can be modified depending on how I
end up looking and feeling, and how much muscle I can carry...

Fair enough, but work up to an hour first. Just pace yourself. You'll

I also need to learn to pace myself.
Back before I re-started at the gym, I used to "powerwalk" for 20
minutes per night 3 or 4 nights per week. I'd try a "sprint" from time

I work nights now so night walking is out!
The weather is cooling off finally, so a fast paced walk after I get
