You pay someone to shave your legs? Kewl, but a bit strange - is that an

Guess it's too soon to have ridden it yet? I understand - it -is- quite

Write back soon on your TT results, no, seriously!

Wow. That must have been some descent. The Specialized feel pretty stable
at 40? You average speed sounds ok, if a little on the low side. Losing
that fat should help, though. My uncle Harry gets about 21 on his beach
cruiser, though he usually has an awesome tail-wind. He's done a lot of
    customizing though.

I usually get about 26kph on the flats, but I ride a low end Trek.

Well you did promise 'quantitative' comparisons on the Webpag. So you can't
even let slip the price tag? I won't tell. ;-) If it's over $2K USD, I
hope the bike weighs in at < 18lbs.

WTF 40mph on a descent is nothing. That's one of the few things my fat

Still...wait until you get there before concluding. Only a few places

Man, I don't know how to tell you this, but you're a frickin' phenom and
don't know it. From your '04 weblog:

"I'm working from home today, but decided to get as many miles in as

hot in NYC. Anyway, I do the usual route today but I see this guy .25 mile
ahead, obviously a racer. I decide to try to close the gap but I just
can't. We're at about 26MPH and despite my best effort, no luck.

Best I could do was 32mph with a slight tailwind, last winter. What's your

    Nice ride, Bill.

This is almost 22 months back for me - last year, my avgs for early 2004
were only in the mid 13 mph range - pitiful even with a leg injury. Now I'm
routinely getting mid 16mph in the foothills - haven't ridden the flats
since Feb. I'm eager to see what losing wt and riding hard all winter has
done for my times at the beach. ;-)

My best time for a more-or-less flat 3.2mile course there in July 04 is
about 11:50 in traffic. That's just a twitch over 16mph. This year I'm
hoping to do it in 10:06 !

Sweet ride, Bill! I'm rebuilding my old Nishiki Pro, with a little help from
the used bike shop on ebay.

Average speed is a weird thing. Hills, wind... it seems to change so
    much with these variables.

Give me flat, no wind, no hills and I can bang out 20mph pretty easy
for 20 miles. But cross-winds and hills..... 20 miles doesn't feel any
longer but 16mph average seems a chore. I could understand if I was
chubby but at 145-150lbs the hills shouldn't make THAT much of a
    difference. Wind, maybe.

I've followed racing for quite awhile but didn't even buy a road bike
until last fall. The range in ability to hold average speeds over
distance is surprising to me, though I suppose it shouldn't be.

I ride to stay fit for another sport so speed isn't that big of a deal
but it would be nice to average 20+mph all the time.
