What's the best way to build muscle mass? Lesser weights with more reps
or more weight with lesser reps?

From everything I've read over the past ten years, that seems to be a
    matter of opinion.

But Opinions are like ass holes. Everybody has one! <lol>

The majority appears to be on the side of more weight, less reps for
    overall mass building.

Personally, if I can lift it more than 12 times, I add weight. If I
can't lift it at least 8 times, I reduce the weight a bit unless I'm
trying to break a barrier. I'll usually start out lighter for the first
set, then add weight over the next two.

It never ceases to amaze me how the addition of a measly 5 lbs. to the
bar can make such a difference on DL's and benches! I tossed 5 more for
my last set on DL's Friday and could only do 6 reps. The set before I
    did 10.

And my shoulder blades are still really sore today. ;-)

That's basically what I do, in all respects.

    Same experience here.

As in a stress fracture? 😉

Hopefully it's your traps that are sore..

You KNEW what I meant! ;-D

Yes, my upper traps are still sore today...

Fixin' to go plinking here shortly.
I'm sure my front right delt will shortly join my upper traps in
    soreness.

    I'm taking the .308......

Well, one doesn't exactly *plink* with a .308, but anyway... You're
not going to get appreciably sore from a .308 unless it's an
*exceedingly* light rifle and/or you fail to "seat" it properly in
your shoulder and/or you shoot a *lot* of rounds. Now if you were
talkin' something like .300 Win. Mag...
