Do you like your Polar CS600 with Power? I have heard mixed reviews on it. It seems like you need a PhD to be able to install it. But I like Polar a lot in general.

Utter bollocks. Took me one read of the manual, about 30 minutes installation to get all the cables REALLLY neat - but then a boat load of cable ties to get it all in place.

Another 5 minutes to put the calculations into the computer and AWAY you go.

Yeah but have you calibrated it against an accurate powermeter?

As it uses the ANT+ protocol, one can use Garmin 605/705 as a display - there you go - you just "saved" 500 US ;)

Comparison tests please! There must be some beta testers out there... somewhere. Maybe after the Interbike some will speak up. Hopefully!

The GARMIN 605 is NOT compatible. Only the 705 will be with powermeters using ANT+SPORT.
Just to clarify. I asked the Garmin people about it at their booth and they said that SRM was mistaken in their press release that it would be compatible with the 605.

Let me rephrase my original comment. Compared with other power meters and for what else it offers, if it is accurate then the price is competitive. However, IMHO, I think all power meters are ridiculously priced in the first pace, and that cyclists are being ripped off. I liken it to the CD ripoff where CDs are produced for a few pennies and the music buying public pay way, way over what one could regard as a fair price.
Unfortunately, as long as there are people prepared to pay the extortionate prices asked, the producers laugh all the way to the bank.
Just my few yen's worth. ;) Tyson (Think Apple - think phone)

Like this is limited to powermeters... Carbon bottle cages, I rest my case.

You pay for the copyright, not the CD. It is similar with powermeters. You are paying for R&D and intellectual property, not manufacturing. Might there be a better way to fund innovation? Perhaps. Are firms that operate in the current system extortionists? No.

Other than some apparent power supply issues which would occasionally drop cadence and power data, it works fine, and am very happy with it for the price. Although you can't see average power for an interval while riding, you can get that average watts data for any interval of the ride (as captured by using 'splits' during the ride, or later manually in software).
