my pre-run snack... and i'm talking 15-30 minutes prior to hitting the roads:
liquid honey on one slice of whole wheat bread, sometimes with some raisins on there. may sound weird, but it works as serious fuel for me when i've got an empty gut and need something to get me through a successful workout. my own little homemade energy booster snack.

No, just ignorant.

It does you no good on your run, but may possibly help your recovery.

plus a glass and a half of water.

I prefer a banana and maybe a little cheese/milk. I just find breads/cereals take extra water to digest.
But the whole wheat provides a slow energy release (complex carbs) in opposition to the quick energy honey. Raisins too.

it's my understanding that dairy foods in the gut can run you the risk of having some stomach upset during the run, but results may differ from one runner to the next. i guess you can handle it. me, being lactose intolerant, must be careful on that count.

True. I could live on milk and cheese. I only have to be careful I don't eat or drink too much of anything beforehand.
