So how's your loverly new bike going then? Almost two weeks now and have
you commuted on her yet, or is she too nice for that for the moment?

No commuting for me at the moment ... new job I'm going for will be
train as well. But I'm done over 200 miles in 10 days. 🙂When I first cycled up dark hill in Richmond Park, I was blasted by
another race bike. I was in a granny gear suffering. Yesterday I was
into front middle ring and keeping good pace! Trying to get out every
other day, even if it's a quick sprint.I am having more close calls, I'm sure the extra speed surprises both
cars and peds. I've noticed that quite a lot of roadies keep in front
big ring and cross the chain. I thought that was a big no-no, but have
seen quite a few.Anyway, all round having fun. Except my main PC has just broken down.

Well that's a fair old bit of mileage, you must be enjoying yourself! Had a
rethink on London-Cambridge yet? I keep getting tempted to go on the Dynamo
instead, but I shouldn't. 😄 -
I did the London Bikeathon on Sunday so that added a few more on 🙂 I
won't be able to make the Cambridge as I'm at a family friends BBQ.
It's a good few miles away, am not sure turning up sweaty on the bike
is an option 🙁 -

seen quite a few.Assuming they know about it it's either because:
1. the front mech has stopped working reliably
2. it's not working as well as the rear mechIf sprinting up to top speed I used to start on the big ring because of 1.
After setting it up perfectly (ish) I now start on the big ring because of
2.With STIs changing up a gear on the rear invloves a single click to drop
the chain down a cog. To change from middle to big on the work-of-Stan
front mech still involves a push instead of a click and takes longer. This
gets in the way of putting shedloads of power through the pedals.IMO anyone that claims shifting up a ring on the front is as quick and
clean as shifting down a cog on the back has sold their soul to Stan, and
will be shot and used as kindling in my next offering to the p*ncture
fairy.I'm open to all views tho.

lifting it up a cog; and the difference in size between the chain wheels
is a lot greater than between any two adjacent cogs in the cassette
(unless you have megarange). But having said all that, the answer IME is
Campagnolo.--
