  1. The apparent purpose of the 911 terrorists, by attacking the World
Trade Center, was to do irreparable harm to the US economy.

Destroying the two buildings and killing thousands of people did hit
the US economy to some degree but certainly didn't threaten the entire
economic system by any stretch of the imagination.

After the attack, Bush maximized the damage by bringing unprecedented
instability to the world oil markets by attacking and occupying Iraq.
The price of oil is now at unprecedented levels, doing much to slow
    down the US economy.

Bush maximized the economic damage by spending hundreds of billions on
attacking Iraq on the pretense that Saddam Hussain was somehow
connected to the 19 hijackers who were mostly from Saudi Arabia and
operating out of Afghanistan. They have wasted billions on a war that
was not necessary in the fight against terrorism. They've wasted
further billions on an in-effective homeland security dept designed to
provide lucrative jobs and contracts for Bush cronies.

Due to Bush, the US now has the highest budget deficit in its history.
Further adding to the economic turmoil and furthering the purpose of
    the terrorists.

Yet the FBI, the CIA and other assorted agencies still haven't gotten
their houses in order and the state of the intelligence community is
not much better than three years ago.

Millions in the US have lost medical coverage thanks to Bush's
economic policies. Millions more have lost their jobs due to Bush's
support for outsourcing. Bush has lessened the burden on the rich and
let them export millions of jobs oberseas. The middle class is earning
less and paying more taxes and medical costs. All due to Bush's
policies. As a result the american economy has shrunk significantly.
The typical american was much better off four years ago.

The US economy is now faltering. The Canadian dollar went from around
$.60US to now more than $.80US in the last three years. This is
largely due to Bush's protectionist domestic policies and his policy
    of spend-spend-spend.

Bush and his oil cronies, Cheney and his Halliburton colleagues, and
the entire top echelon of US high income earners are getting richer
while the US economy teeters. They are fiscally-liberal right-wing
conservatives with their heads buried deep in the US tax money trough.

The US is only marginally safer than it was three years ago and the
economy is on the verge of a full blown economic recession if not an
    actual economic depression.

The terrorists could not have done it without Bush and Cheney.

The REAL problem with George W. Bush is that he illegally
invades and occupies other counties, he is responsible for the
killing, maiming, or abusing of thousands of innocent people,
he illegally uses WMD, he disregards International Law,
and he does all that in the name of God and Christianity.

Of course an even bigger embarrassment is that countries
like Britain, Poland, Spain, Holland, and others supported his
diabolical scheme by hoping to share in the financial rewards of
    - in the case of Iraq - rebuilding a country after first destroying
much of it, and then hoping to gain access to cheap oil thereafter.

Declaring "who is not with me is against me" is going to haunt
Mr. Bush, when he eventually faces Him who originally uttered
that same phrase 2000 years ago.

I would suggest reading the book "Crossing the Rubicon" by Michael
Rupert. It is one of the most amazing books on a wide range of topics
from the 911 attacks to the decline of the oil economy and therefor
modern human civilization. Peak oil is almost here and after that
there is no turning back, hence the title. The powers that be know
this very well and are making a last desperate rape of the last of the
planets resources like oil and natural gas. This could not be
accomplished without the support of the American public and for that
they needed a "pearl harbor style event". Such an event would not
only allow them to further their agenda abroad of securing the worlds
remaining oil but also their agenda at home of turning the country
into a police state by beginning to remove basic constitutional rights
without the outrage of the public, in fact with the blessing of the
public in the name of protection. All this to prepare for the end of
oil and the eventual collapse of our modern society which will result
in anarchy, panic and death of possibly billions of people from lack
of food and energy. The fact is oil has allowed humans to over expand
and without it there is simply no way to support our current
civilization and population. In only a few decades all this will be a
reality. Considering that it is no surprise that no one wants to talk
or even think about it. Certainly not our leaders despite the fact
they are fully aware of the situation.

They could have sent in 20,000 inspectors from the US, UN, wherever

the corrupt US mainstream corporate media. Try depleted uranium

the contamination of Iraq is infinitely greater than that caused even
by the bombing of Japan and will endure for decades causing
immeasurable suffering to not only the people of Iraq but to our own
US soldiers. That is a simple fact and is totally ignored by

THe fact of the matter is that supply of oil is about the same as the
demand. So the prices will go up.

What Cliniton and Bush did not do is make policies that encourage energy
conservation. This is what we need now.

Rather, Bush is talking about encouraging people to use SUVs (and he got tax
breaks for business use of SUVs) by giving them tax breaks. He also talked
abouut how people would be safer if everyone drove SUVs because then you
won't have different size vehicles hitting each other (you want have that
problem if everyone drove small cars. Studies show that fewer people are
    killed in cars than SUVs.

Indeed, I think Bush, Cheney, Wolfowitz, Rice, Powell, Rumsfeld and
Ashcroft represent the absolute worst administration in United States
history. They ARE the terrorists, and bungling, inept and vicious at
    that.

The plans and prepartation for the attack on the WTC and Pentagon and White
House were underway while CLinton was in office. Clinton failed to use
technology to make air transportation safer (in other words, make security
screening at airports effective), in part because airlines didn't want that
    to happen.

While I totally agree that Bush's administration is inept, I don't think
    they are responsible 9/11.

I have no evidence for what you're saying regarding Clinton. But
clearly, Homeland Security is a major joke. SINCE 9/11, which happened
on Bush's watch, they have failed DISMALLY to protect ports and other
    vulnerable areas.

Indeed, the notion that the world is "safer" because Saddam is in a

[censored] up and there are LOTS more people with greater anger and hatred
against the US willing to die now because of their bungled and
    horrible actions based in lies.

Ignorant moron. This is what happens when you get all your info from
the corrupt US mainstream corporate media. Try depleted uranium
    weapons for one.
the contamination of Iraq is infinitely greater than that caused even
by the bombing of Japan and will endure for decades causing
immeasurable suffering to not only the people of Iraq but to our own
US soldiers. That is a simple fact and is totally ignored by
mainstream media and it is sickening. Children of US soldiers are
being born with grotesque deformities like missing fingers as a result
of these weapons and that is nothing compared to what his happening to
Iraqis. Therefore YES bush has used illegal wmds NOT ONLY on Iraqi
    civilians BUT HIS OWN SOLDIERS.

Citations for this, please. How much radiation is actually released by
depleted uranium? I think you are completely offbase on this one.

Absolutely not. You could not be more wrong. The fact that you even
think that shows how limited and sensor your sources of information
are. That would not be a surprise if it is from any kind of corporate
or mainstream US media. Here about the evidence(much of it suppressed
by the military and government) right from the mouth of one of the
leading experts Major Doug Rokke. He was assigned by general
schwarzkopf to deal with the clean up and treatment of uranium
contamination in gulf war 1 and also served as director of the US
armies depleted uranium project. He himself suffers severe
    contamination from depleted uranium.

you can listen to the interview here on the non corporate, 100%
listener sponsored KPFA radio program "Flashpoints". The date of the
interview is 9-16-04 (starts on minute 22) . There are also a few
other segments on depleted uranium use on 8-13-04 (starts on minute
27), another interview with Doug Rokke on 1-1-04 (minute 33) and
11-20-03 (minute 17). Two of these may be the same interview or one
might be shortened. There is also an interview on the program
"Democracy Now" on 9-30-04 with a soldier returned from Iraq who
tested positive for depleted uranium poisoning and just had a new born
    baby with 3 missing fingers.

The amount of information suppression in the US media is beyond belief
and people need to start opening their eyes and seeking real
independent information like that found on KPFA. Some other programs
you may find of interest besides Flashpoints are Democracy Now, Guns
and Butter, and Counterspin. They have many months of archived shows
with descriptions of topics covered for each day.

I doubt that about half the people will vote for Bush. Probably less
than half the voters will vote for him. Some of those that do vote for
him hold that it is "wrong to change horses in the middle of a
stream." I disagree, but it is a reason. Others hold that it "sends
the wrong message" to the terrorists. I disagree, but it is a reason.
But even the conservatives are starting to realize that there are few
good reasons for voting for Bush. This is from a very conservative
newspaper, the Detroit News, which has NEVER backed a Democrat for
president and has only not supported a Republican for president three
times--twice during FDR and this one time. I stress that the paper did
not support Kerry, but what it said about Bush is remarkable:

    Begin Quote:

The president succeeded in a critical area. When America most needed a
strong leader following September 11, George W. Bush stood tall. He
filled an historically important role of holding our nation together,
of giving us strength and resolve, and of epitomizing our spirit and
our will. For that we will be forever grateful.

Bush also responded with force against al-Qaida and the Taliban in
Afghanistan, an action that was long overdue. And his economic
stimulus plan helped move the country out of recession and minimized
the financial impact of September 11.

But this president has a knack for squandering success.

With the nation and the world firmly behind his operation in
Afghanistan, he turned his sights too quickly to Iraq and Saddam
    Hussein, his family's old nemesis.

Acting on intelligence that was faulty and too eagerly interpreted by
the administration to match its agenda, Bush moved against Iraq
without the support of key allies.

We [the newspaper] backed the invasion of Iraq, accepting the Bush
assertion that Saddam's weapons programs presented a gathering threat
to the United States. While America, the world and the Iraqi people
are better off with Saddam gone, we now believe that Iraq was a fight
that might have waited, or been avoided altogether.

Regardless, a president who takes the nation to war has an obligation
to win that war as quickly, efficiently and painlessly as possible.

Bush has not done that. The management of the conflict in Iraq is
abysmal. The United States went into Iraq without enough international
support and brought too few of our own troops to complete the job.

In shorting the generals, in allowing political concerns to trump
military strategy, in assuming too much cooperation from the Iraqi
people, Bush allowed Iraq to become a hotbed of terrorism, the very
condition he struck to prevent. The messy result has allowed our
enemies to portray the United States as a villain, and use our role as
a rallying cry for terrorists elsewhere.

There were too many poor calls, including disbanding the Iraqi army,
leaving the borders undefended and trusting shady Iraqi nationals, all
of which combined to turn what could have been a stunning liberation
into a still uncertain, nation-building morass. Iraq has stretched
America's military capabilities, strained friendships and will
hamstring future strikes against rogue regimes.

Such bad management cannot be forgiven in a wartime president.

At home, Bush has shocked us with his free-spending ways. Non-defense,
domestic spending increased more than 30 percent during his term. At
the same time, the president cut taxes. Together, the two resulted in
a massive federal budget deficit that could have been mitigated had
Bush kept his promise of fiscal conservatism.

This was a failure of leadership. The American people will accept a
call to sacrifice in times of crisis. But instead of asking for
    sacrifice, Bush delivered excess.

He plunged the federal government even deeper into the day-to-day
operations of local school districts with the ill-advised No Child
Left Behind Act; he failed to veto even one of Congress' pork-laden
spending bills; he pushed ahead with his own spending agenda,
including a confusing and deceptively expensive prescription drug
plan, without regard to the budget demands of homeland security and
the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. On trade, he exhibited protectionist
    tendencies that hurt American industry.

Finally, on the matter of civil liberties, Bush has turned away from
the conservative doctrine that the Constitution must be strictly
observed. His Patriot Act contained many important elements to break
down the walls between law enforcement agencies and allow them to
    respond to advancements in technology.

But it also trashed personal privacy protections, suspended due
process safeguards and upset the balance between the power of the
government and the rights of the individual.

The president's record does not recommend him for re-election. End
    Quote

Or, in other words--I think: "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me
    twice, shame on me."
