  1. Here I am to promote my latest find. Ocean Spray Sugar Free drinks. Don't
confuse this with their Cranberry Lite stuff. One of the things I miss on LC
is juices. Well if you're a cranberry juice lover get your hands on this new
stuff. It's sweetened with splenda and it is THAT GOOD. If you're worried
about the few carbs or tartness it has, I mix it 1/2 with club soda. Highly
recommend the other flavor too..... orange citrus something or other?

  2. I bought some the other day if your talking about the new Diet Ocean
Spray. The big bottles were 10 for $10. I was disappointed. The
cranberry was so [censored] they had to add too much Splenda to sweeten it
that it has a funny after taste. I didnt like the orange either as it
doesnt have as much of an orange flavor as it does over sweetened
pineapple juice with a splash of orange flavor in it. I wont buy either
again. Larry likes the orange and I will use the cranberry up but I
have to cut it half and half with diet Sierra Mist. I would definitely
buy a cran~raspberry one if they make it as the raspberry will add a
bit of sweetness and they would probably be able to tone down the
    Splenda in it.

Years ago I was seeing a naturopathic doc. He told me if I drink any juices
that I should cut them by half with water. Otherwise he said I would be
taking in too much sugar at one time. Doing this helped wean me off sodas
and other junk drinks. These days I drink water, weakened Crystal light
    or iced tea.
I can no longer tolerate intensely flavored or highly sweetened drinks.

    Just my two cents,

  4. We are not treal avid juice drinkers around here. My daughter never got
juice as a baby. Fromula and water was all. Her doctor told me "juice
is candy for babies, and they dont need it"

I drink anything low carb sugar free thats new now just because I like
    variation sometimes

  5. My sister-in-law would put her young kids to bed with a baby bottle
full of juice, either apple or orange juice. The poor kids went thru
dozens of dental procedures as infants before I pointed out that maybe
she should put them to bed with a bottle of *water* instead. It cost
her hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars, and her kids had to suffer
thru the awful dental procedures as small children.

The really sad thing is that juices really do not contain that much
nutrition after it is process, packaged, shipped and stored. They just
are sweet acidic flavoured water by the time it gets to the consumer.
Water soluble vitamins break down with processing, exposure to heat,
exposure to light and with time.

Recently one major brand of orange juice was being prominently
advertised as made with "real juice". On closer inspection, the reality
was that a measly 1% of the product was real juice. Pretty sad. Juices
are way over hyped as nutrition.

Unless you pick the fruit yourself right from the tree or bush, and do
the juicing yourself, you really don't know what nutrition, if any, you
are getting from the stuff. And you will always be guaranteed to get a
blast of sugar, albeit "natural" sugars, from most juices.

  6. Well..... since my daughter has size 10 teeth mouth and size 8 mouth,
we have seen the orthodontist every 6 months now for the past 2 years.
She is looking at getting some sort of spreader bar that is glued to
the back of the upper teeth and the parent turns a screw a little bit
everyday to spread the upper palate to make room for her BIG permanent
teeth. Then its tooth pulling time, then its $5 thousand dollars worth
of braces. Continual fillings for rotten teeth just isnt happening
(THANK GOD) and I dont want it. Being a low carb family, the sugar
things just arent in the house so going to her friends and eating a few
Mike and Ikes is a real treat for her.
