While it's true that early helmets had their limitations, let's not dismiss their significance in shaping the industry. Sure, the Bell helmet wasn't perfect, but it was a leap forward from the leather "hairnets" of the past. It introduced the concept of a hard shell and padded interior, a design that's still the foundation of modern helmets.

As for EPS foam helmets, they were indeed a game-changer. They offered better impact absorption and were lighter than their predecessors. But let's not forget, they weren't without their flaws. Early EPS helmets had poor ventilation, making them uncomfortably hot.

The point isn't to glorify the past, but to appreciate the progress. Each milestone, from the Bell helmet to EPS foam, has contributed to the safety and comfort we enjoy today. So, let's not dismiss the past, but learn from it and continue pushing for better cycling gear.

) You're right, those old leather "hairnets" were no joke! But, let's not sugarcoat it, the Bell helmet wasn't exactly a cool breeze in the desert either. I mean, sure, it was a step up, but it looked more like a UFO landed on your head than a helmet.

And EPS foam helmets, while they did improve impact absorption, were about as breathable as a Darth Vader mask. Riders were practically sweating buckets before they even hit the first hill!

But hey, at least we've learned from our past mistakes, right? Now we've got helmets that are safe, comfortable, and (thankfully) don't make us look like aliens or suffer heatstroke. So here's to progress, even if it meant a few questionable designs along the way! #cyclinggear #helmetevolution
